It’s been a challenging week out on-site with rain-soaked days, sticky mud, and heavy humidity, but progress never stops! 💪 Our team has been hard at work constructing this timber sleeper and steel post retaining wall, pushing through the elements to keep the project moving forward.

We’ve officially started work on our latest site, the Fels Project, and the first reveal has been eye-opening! These poorly built, unstable retaining walls were in desperate need of attention.

Team MRC is already hard at work, making way for structurally sound, long-lasting replacements to stabilise the embankment and secure the space. More to come as the team gets cracking on constructing these walls and transforming this backyard! 💪

About MRC Landscapes:

Position Overview:
We are looking for a First Year Apprentice to join our team! This full-time role is perfect for recent school leavers or those who are eager to start a hands-on career in Landscape Construction. You’ll gain practical experience working on real projects, while also attending TAFE one day per week at Richmond to further develop your skills.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assisting with the construction of outdoor landscapes, including paving, retaining walls, and garden installations
- Learning how to read plans, measure, and carry out tasks under supervision
- Performing basic maintenance such as weeding, planting, and pruning
- Operating tools and equipment safely
- General labor duties and site clean-up
- Working outdoors in all elements, including sun, rain, and cold weather conditions

Requirements:

- A passion for working outdoors and learning new skills
- Driver’s licence and own vehicle preferred (ability to travel to job sites and TAFE)
- Willingness to attend TAFE one day per week at Richmond
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team
- Basic knowledge or interest in gardening, landscaping, or construction is a bonus
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Location:
Our projects are based around the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas, and you will be required to attend TAFE in Richmond once a week.

Working Hours:
Full-time position (38 ordinary hours per week), Monday to Friday. Some flexibility may be required based on project needs.

Compensation:
The role offers a competitive apprenticeship wage in line with industry standards, with opportunities for progression and further training within the team.

Training & Development:
As a First Year Apprentice, you’ll receive:

- Comprehensive on-the-job training
- Formal education at TAFE (Richmond)
- Guidance and mentorship from our experienced professional
- Opportunities for career growth within MRC Landscapes
