Travel by vehicle to Dochula Pass, which sits at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. If the weather is clear, you'll have the opportunity to witness the breathtaking snow-capped Himalayas from this vantage point. At the pass summit, you can explore 108 memorial chortens and observe clusters of fluttering prayer flags. While taking in the scenery, you can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee at the cafeteria. Additionally, there are ample open spaces for children to hike and appreciate nature.

Love and support this beautiful article which celebrates Bhutanese Q***r Changemakers on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. In the three years since same s*x activity was decriminalized, there has been notable progress when it comes LGBTQ+ rights and visibility in Bhutan. But there is always more to be done.

"It was very androgynous, colorful, diverse and people were being who they are, which is Q***r."

Remembering many enjoyable meals shared with our clients while on tour. In restaurants and homes, Bhutanese are always delighted to share food made from delicious local ingredients. A visit to vegetable markets reveals a huge range of colourful and high quality fruit and vegetable, some familiar and some, well, not so much! And always, always, 🌶️ of course!

We love this photo of Punakha Dzong! It’s a sight that take your breath away when you see it for the first time!

www.journeytoBhutan.com.au

Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungtang Dechen Photrang Dzong, is a historically significant dzong in Bhutan, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Constructed in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, it serves as a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture and hosts vibrant annual festivals like the Punakha Drubchen and Tshechu.

“Bhutan is an amazing adventure, awe-inspiring scenery & very special people. This is definitely the way to see it - perfectly orchestrated by local tour guide Payza Pelzang & organiser extraordinaire Julia Davenport, these small group trips combine everything a traveller would want to experience in this beautiful country with plenty of leisure time & the flexibility to adjust according to group preferences …& whatever challenges nature might throw at you (making for one of the best group experiences we had together!🙏🏼) We can highly recommend Australian Journey to Bhutan to create a trip of a lifetime 🇧🇹”

Thank you Giulietta Williams for your review of your recent trip to with Australian Journey to Bhutan

"Just returned from a terrific trip around Bhutan carefully constructed & coordinated by Julia and Payza, aka AJTB, with spot on driving by Changala whose skills were proven by his expert negotiation of the snow covered high passes adding even more thrills to an already captivating tour. A sum of many parts, the journey captured the sights, sounds, colors and flavors of Bhutan midst sun, snow and showers - from walking clockwise round a Chorten to ascending Tigers Nest Monastery, this trip exceeded expectations. If you wish to embrace Bhutan give AJTB a try. You will not be disappointed"

Day 13: Final day before flying home and we began VERY early with a cold start (-1 C) to see the unfurling of the silk Thangka – so large it covers the face of an entire building. The ‘Thangka, known as a ‘thongdroel’, is a religious picture scroll, and is only exhibited for a few hours at daybreak on the final day of the festival. Huge crowds of beautifully dressed locals go for a blessing.

A sight to behold!
