By lighting remembrance candles and seeing the warm glow can bring comfort to a person grieving as they cherish the memories and honour a loved one's life. Due to the design of this headstone and base our family did not have the space to write something truly special for their husband and father. You will see from the photo that we design a cabinet that was standing vertical with a shelf inside it. After much discussion with Mrs. Paraskevas as she really wanted this poem to be somewhere on her husband's headstone, Therese came up with the idea of laser etching the poem onto the perspex of the cabinet. It came up really well and is a unique idea.
The laser etching was done at our factory on our laser machine.

Wayne and I had the absolute privilege to work with this beautiful family to design and create a stunning monument which was sent to the Cook Islands. The artwork was created in conjunction with the family and ultimately the design finished by our team. The headstone included a beautiful hand portrait, and lettering which was so special and symbolic to their husband and father. The end result was so fitting of a wonderful and gentle man, who we both had the honour of meeting him before he passed away. It is something we will always treasure. The family have kindly given us permission to share some photos.

**What is Carrara White Marble?**

Carrara Italian White marble is one of the iconic luxury Italian marble featuring shades of white and grey veining. It is quarried in the mountains of Carrara Italy. It is a stunning natural material.

One famous marble sculpture from the Renaissance is The Statue of David by Michaelangelo. Created between 1501 and 1504 The statue of David is a masterpiece.

Unlike granites all marble scratches easily and you always need to be cautious and mindful of what you may put on a ledger of a monument / or a bench countertop as even a pair of keys accidentally placed or thrown on the marble can leave a mark and even a scratch.

Why does Carrara or other marbles turn yellow?
White Carrara, Calcutta and Venetino marbles are rich in iron and as a result if your marble such as a marble monument in a cemetery / headstone is constantly exposed to moisture the minerals will cause the iron to oxidize. This in turn is why your marble may appear yellow or even brown.

We often get asked about White Carrara Marble and how well it will last in the cemetery. We are very honest and explain that Marble is extremely hard work and does discolour easily. An example of this is if you had Lilly's in a vase on a ledger and the petals drop on the marble will that discolour the marble and unfortunately yes it does.
Carrara Marble requires regular cleaning and maintenance and it will stay in good condition for a long time.

Whilst we will tell you the worst of marble if you and family members are able to look after it, then it will always look beautiful.

Have you ever noticed in an old cemetery how the beautiful Carrara marble headstones discolour, this may be because there are no family members left to maintain the monument.

We are looking for a dynamic team member with great energy to join our growing team.

We are happy to offer either a casual or part time position with the possibility of full time depending on experience. This role will be a mix of working within the factory and out on site.

Requirements: A valid drivers licence and reliable transport.
Willingness to work over time when required. To be reliable, punctual and self motivated with a good work ethic and a strong understand of safety and OH & S requirements. We are willing to provide training to the right candidate.

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Admin Assistant to join our team at a busy stonemason company in Thomastown.
Responsibilities include and are not limited to:
Answering telephones, responding to emails, greeting visitors, sit down in meetings with clients, scheduling appointments, maintaining accurate and up to date records, processing permits with the various cemeteries and general Admin support when needed. We are a small team and you will be working closely with each our Directors and other Team Members. This role is extremely busy and we need someone who is super organised.

Sadly over the last 18 months our family lost our beautiful sister in law and our eldest brother Wendy & Gary Hallett. Before Gary passed he asked his younger brother Wayne and I to do a headstone for Wendy. In such sad circumstances Gary didn’t get to see Wendy’s headstone before we lost Gary earlier this year. Gary we hope we have done you proud. On a personal note Wayne and I feel so incredibly blessed to have made this for you both and we hope this gives your beautiful children and grand children some peace when they come and visit you. We love and miss you both dearly. As a note Gary worked as a stonemason for the family business for many years and he was proud of his family tradition and was excellent in our trade.
