Over ten years ago Ubud Serenity founders, Jo and Amanda, had their first wellness week together in Ubud, Bali. It was on this visit that they discovered The Yoga Barn, a peaceful paradise for international yogis. Ten years on, and many wellness weeks later, The Yoga Barn has expanded and developed into an extraordinary centre for wellbeing and healing.

Join us, and a small group of awesome 40-plus ladies, in Ubud this September for a week of pampering, including daily classes at The Yoga Barn to experience a variety of yoga styles by world-class instructors, and of course the delicious and healthy food on offer at the famous Kafe restaurant.

We’re excited to have Sue join us in 2025 for her second Ubud Serenity Wellness week! Sue loved all the activities on offer but also appreciated being able to opt out occasionally to have a bit more me-time hanging by the pool or treating herself to another massage. One of our lovely Gemini Ubud Serenity ladies talks about how her twin star sign traits influence her travel experience and the importance of practicing self-care and finding balance, especially when away from the routine and familiarity of home.

'My star sign traits have me as an oxymoron; curious about the people around me, a social butterfly, cheerful and smiley, always chatting and giggling. Yet with an equal need to be quite reclusive, seeking quality time alone, meditation practice, having a quiet place where I can stop thinking and start feeling. This Yin/ Yang approach I take very seriously, and Ubud Serenity gives me exactly that… the balance of opposite but interconnected cycle. Me-Time

Each day on an Ubud Serenity Wellness and Pamper week you get to spend a few hours of down time or what we like to call, me-time. Not something that we get to experience much of in the busyness of everyday life.

What do you get to do during your daily me-time? Anything you want! You can be as lazy or as busy as your heart desires. Sleeping, reading, lying by the pool, a pedicure or massage, yoga class or head up the street for a coffee or some shopping………enjoy the serenity!

I think we can all agree that the Ubud Serenity ladies have had a fabulous week! Mostly strangers to start, there have been new friendships forged, old friends reunited and memories made sharing such an extraordinary experience together.

Perfect way to celebrate our final night, cocktails and dinner at the spectacular Bambu Indah Eco Resort, set in the jungle overlooking the Ayung River.

Day five began early with a blessing in the holy springs of the Tirta Empul Water Temple.

Wafting incense, chanting prayers and offerings of flowers and rice promised a spiritual experience ahead.

Dressed in bright green sarongs and guarded by wrathful creatures carved into stone, we stepped down into the crystal clear sacred water and dipped our heads under water spouts, each receiving a blessing of purification.

Feeling cleansed and relaxed we set off to explore the temple, finding a group of village elders collecting purified water for a traditional mass cremation ceremony.

Here, when people die, they are buried in the ground until enough people have died for a mass cremation. The bodies are dug up, prepared, then given an elaborate celebration in which they are all cremated, their ashes scattered into the river.
