Pick of the bunch?

This self seeded endemic "native grape" Cayratia clematidea popped up at Basalt Hut 🛖 our easy access cabin, using the carpark handrail as a trellis. Host plant for the beautiful Joseph's Coat moth and edible parts for birds and humans. We love the nature network stories that evolve on our Land for Wildlife property.

Today, 18 March, is Global Recycling Day, and did you know there's is a simple way to help fund wildlife conservation just through recycling alone? All you have to do is Cash in your Containers for Change.

Help Wildlife Queensland, help the environment and help our endangered wildlife species by recycling your used containers and donating your refund to us. Each recycled bottle, can or elible container earns 10c for Wildlife Queensland when you donate the funds to our Scheme ID number C10002920. It might not sound like a lot, but it adds up really quickly! 👍💰💰💰

Chomped, manured, slashed...

It's hard to believe these fences were covered by grass and a fire danger 6 weeks ago. Nice rain from cyclone Alfred will make for sweet feed before winter.

On the weekend Kushla got to visit Linda’s past mentee, farmstay Kiambram Country Cottages near Toowoomba, for a tour of how the owners are restoring their farm landscape with bush tucker, plants with traditional value (such as fibre), flora for fauna, and permaculture design (such as swales to safely move water down their hill and soak it into the soil)

Kiambram are ecoBiz Star Partners, having reduced their emissions from one source (e.g. energy) by at least 10%

Day 17 of the vege garden revamp after Lucky's Xmas stampede 🐄

Everything was eaten except mint and chives so we did a quick refix by using seedlings either side of our manure/irrigation channel which only needs filling every few days and keeps the bore water off the leaves. All going well and flowering except the wombok has attracted caterpillars.

A Valentines Day stroll to the Sunflowers 🌻 💝 ?

Sadly they are not ready for the long weekend but we will be open for pick your own from 10am-6pm on the following days.

No need to book, just come and pay entry at the farm gate. $15 adult, $5 children

Dainty little sweet fruits on now.

Moving along with our native plant recording and labelling program, we are capturing flowers and fruit as they happen.

If you are visiting soon check out tags 655 and 658 on the high fence just north of the solar shed. Climbing saltbush fruits are falling and slender grapes are forming.
