Here’s what’s needed to enter Vanuatu. You need to complete an on line health declaration (similar to entering Australia) before you depart. Upload either a certified RAT (from your pharmacy)or Recovery Certificate (from your GP). That’s it. On Board our staff may choose to wear masks because they don’t want to get sick and loose time off work. You can wear a mask if you want. Hand sanitiser will be available. There are no prior vaccination requirements. If you get sick in Vanuatu you should isolate yourself. If you choose to be tested you maybe detained in an isolation facility. You are responsible for your own medical costs while in Vanuatu. Booking with Aero Santo provides you with the best option of being able to be evacuated in a medical emergency.

Wondering about the cost of air travel? Here are the factors to consider why ticket prices will be high. Fuel: you all know the price; it’s 20,000 litres to fill up the jet. Your one way seat fuel cost is about the same as a tank full of fuel in your average car. Your meal service might surprise you at a cost of around $50 with a glass of wine or a can of beer thrown in. The Covid Test that will probably be required is another $29 excluding the cost of disposing of the bio hazard waste. Aero Santo won’t sugar coat the cost with pre Covid expectations.

The more that book the lower the fare - that’s how a community backed charter service works. It’s not complicated.

This weeks progress: Foreign Air Operators Certificate application process on its way. Ground handling negotiations with Air Vanuatu, progressing. Nauru will be flying for Air Vanuatu next week while their Boeing goes for C Check. Health department questions are being posed for us by Luganville councillor Patty Peter. Our booking system is now live requiring only a $50 deposit to make a booking up until June next year and a $5 deposit for booking beyond. In anticipation of growth an additional Friday flight has been scheduled for 2023. All deposits remain as credits for any future flights or cargo consignments. Thanks for all the positive support and phone calls.

Did you ever wonder what the spiral at the centre of a jet engine is for? Almost all jet engines have some kind of device on the turbine. The reason for this is safety. There is an area in front, beside and behind a jet engine that is a danger zone even if the engine is idling. Since ground staff often wear ear muffs on the tarmac and may not hear that an engine is running or see the red flashing light on the roof indicating that the engines are on, this device is a visual indicator that the fan is on.
