Happy NAIDOC week 2022!

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.

Happy NAIDOC week. Diverse Travel Australia is proud to work with so many wonderful First Nations cultures in Australia.

Tune in and listen to the great young Yolngu musicians in East Arnhem Land. East Arnhem land is Aboriginal Land in the Northern Territory in Australia. Strong people, strong culture and they enjoy sharing their culture with the world. During the current restrictions on travel they are sharing their music with the world on line. Enjoy!

Please take note of the announcement that Kakadu National Park is closing for a period of two weeks.

KAKADU NATIONAL PARK TEMPORARY CLOSURE FROM 5.00 PM THURSDAY 26 MARCH 2020

Kakadu National Park will be temporarily closed to visitors and other non-essential travellers for a minimum of two weeks from 5.00 pm on Thursday 26 March 2020.

We understand many people would have been looking forward to visiting, however the health and wellbeing of visitors, staff and local communities is our utmost priority. We all have a role to play in minimising the risk of COVID-19.

This decision has been made in consultation with traditional owners represented by the Kakadu Joint Board of Management and the Northern Land Council, and we will continue to work together.

Residents of Kakadu and Arnhem Land will still be permitted access, along with essential services operating in Kakadu.

We will use the next two weeks to assess longer term options for the park and we will be closely monitoring the advice of medical authorities and the government to help us make those decisions.

The Boat Ramp at South Alligator River remains open.

Our thoughts are with the community during this difficult time and we encourage social interaction with Kakadu via our website and social media platforms. Please join our online community via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as we’ll continue to share stories and provide updates as they come to hand. We also encourage everyone to share stories, special memories and photographs of Kakadu through these platforms.
