West Wyalong Rugby Club and PPG Events Australia have combined to support Nathan
Stapleton. West Wyalong Rugby Club are running a raffle for two packages including airfares
to watch the Wallabies take on the All Blacks at Eden park for the Bledisloe Cup
Nathan, who played 61 games and scored 17 tries for the Cronulla Sharks, was paralysed from the
neck down when he was caught in a ruck while playing for the Boorowa Goldies in West Wyalong,
NSW on April 9.
The 32-year-old damaged his spinal cord at the C4 level of his cervical vertebrae, leaving him
quadriplegic. Nathan also suffered a cardiac arrest for 16minutes. The extortionary efforts of both
clubs that day provided first aid to Nathan.
Nathan and his wife Kate have recently welcomed their second son Angus. Little brother to Harry.
The family is facing its new normal with remarkable positivity, in spite of the big challenges that
lay ahead.
A shortage of specialist disability accommodation and carers in regional Australia means they
will need to leave their home and support network in Boorowa.
Kate says they hope to buy a new accessible home in Young, NSW.
Nathan, Kate and family are in a position now where they cant move back to their familys property, to their home.
Its just too remote and Nathan will need 24/7 care, so they are needing to purchase a new home and make it accessible for Nathan.
West Wyalong Rugby Club did not hesitate in putting together this raffle to assist Nathan, Kate
and family.
