Raising Australian permanent visa placements set for discussion at next month's Job Summit.
This could mean that PR placements could rise to 200,000, encompassing family and skilled migration. But there is also push from experts to scrap the occupation lists, and overhaul the entire permanent migration program. The key message is Australia needs a wider variety of skills to come from the permanent skilled migration program, and faster processing times for these visas.

Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa Subclass 870: A sponsored parent visa can be granted to the parent of an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, allowing them to remain in Australia for up to 5 years with the possibility of a further 5 year grant. Also, unlike other parent visas, this temporary visa can take only a matter of months to process, and the application fee is a fraction of the cost of a contributory parent visa.

International Students Return to Australian Universities

This week the NSW Government announced its intention to introduce a plan to welcome International Students back to Australian Universities as early as July 2021. The Federal Government advises that while returning Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents were a priority, it welcomes any plan the States can put in place to also safely welcome students back to our shores.
An Australian qualification can provide international students with excellent post study opportunities within their field, within Australia and overseas.
Australian Student Visa holders can complete one or multiple qualifications in Australia, while also enjoying the benefits of part time work and travel.
If you are interested in completing a qualification in Australia, Global Community can assist you with visa advice and application submission. To arrange a consultation contact us via our page, or email us at [email protected].

Regional Migration Opportunities
Additional points, more options for international graduates from regional universities, and two new pathways to permanent residency are just some of the opportunities that Australia’s new regional migration program have to offer.
Two new skilled regional visas provide a pathway to permanent residency, with holders having the option to apply for the Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191) from November 2022 should they meet the requirements.
Another encouraging factor, invitations made for a Subclass 489 (Skilled – Regional) (Provisional) visa or a Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional (Provisional)) visa may be eligible for an additional 15 points under the general points test.
Further incentive to consider regional migration as an option is the refined definition of Designated Regional Areas to include a category 2 - ‘Cities and Major Regional Centres’. Perth, Adelaide, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Newcastle, Wollongong, Geelong, and Hobart are all classified under this classification.
Applicants for regional skilled migration may also be eligible for priority processing should the nomination occupation be included on the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List.
Global Community can assist clients with occupation list advice; assistance with preparation of Expression of Interest and Skills Assessment application, and accumulative points advice; to visa lodgement and support.
If you have qualifications and work experience in a professional occupation, or professional trade qualifications and experience, Contact Global Community to find out if regional migration visa is right for you.

Working Holiday Visa Holders Helping Bushfire Recovery Efforts

Policy changes to the Working Holiday Maker Visa Program, made by the Department of Home Affairs this week, mean visa holders in this program will be able to contribute to bushfire recovery.
The changes will allow Working Holiday Makers seeking a second or third visa in that program to count volunteer as well as paid work on bushfire recovery efforts in declared disaster areas as specified work. Additionally, those working on bushfire recovery, whether paid or volunteer, will be permitted to remain with the same employer for a period of 12 months, 6 months longer than previously allowed. Changes will also be made to the type of work Working Holiday Makers are permitted to engage in to include building and construction related to disaster relief.
The changes are thought to attract these short-term visa holders to these areas and provide much needed aid to the recovery process.

TOP TIPS - SKILLS ASSESSMENTS

Need a skills assessment for your profession?

Here are Global Communities TOP TIPS to reduce assessment delays:

1. Read through the whole application form and all instructions from the assessing authority carefully before you start.
2. Make sure you submit all the required documents exactly as the assessing authority requires.
3. Only submit documents which are clear and legible.
4. Follow the assessing authorities’ instructions carefully.
5. Read through your entire application carefully before you submit it to ensure you haven’t left anything out or made any mistakes.

Incorrectly submitted documents and incomplete applications are the most common cause for delays in processing skills assessments.

Global Community Managing Migration Agent, Angela, has over ten years experience as a senior assessing officer at one of Australia’s major professional assessing authorities. With this experience she is able to provide first hand knowledge of preparing a skills assessment application.

If you require a skills assessment, or are interested in making and application for a visa type which would require a skills assessment, contact Angela at [email protected] to arrange a consultation.
