BREAKING: Cruising is coming back to Queensland ⚓🛳

After a two-year suspension due to COVID-19, the Commonwealth has announced cruise ships will be allowed back into Australian waters from April 17.

Queensland will lead the return of Australia’s cruise industry - with the first ship expected to arrive in June 🌊

Rebuilding Queensland’s tourism industry is central to our plan for economic recovery.

We’re working closely with the Commonwealth to welcome back cruise ships as safely as possible.

NEW ROADMAP: Today we’re releasing a new roadmap to easing restrictions for October, November and December 👇👇👇

• From today, you can have a drink or meal at your local without sitting down. 🍺
• Dancing will return to weddings from November 1. 💃
• The roadmap is set for the NSW border to reopen.

Our strong health response means we can get on with Queensland’s economic recovery plan.

COVID-19 update: 5 things you should know about Queensland borders 📣

📌 Queenslanders should not travel to Victoria
📌 From midday 3 July, anyone who has been in Victoria in the last 14 days (including Queenslanders) should not travel to Queensland. If they still choose to come to Queensland, they will have to undergo 14 days mandatory quarantine in a hotel at their expense
📌 This can’t be avoided by travelling to Queensland via any other state, including New South Wales
📌 From midday Friday 10 July, any person from New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory will be permitted to visit Queensland
📌 Entry will be subject to completing and signing a border declaration

The kids and I are so excited as we had been planning to go to Australia Zoo earlier this year. We will be sure to get up there over the next couple of weeks! Have you been to Australia Zoo before?

Crikey! We’re thrilled to officially announce that we are re-opening our 110 acres of beautiful outdoor space to everyone from Friday 12th June. Our amazing Australia Zoo Crew have been working hard over the past few months to introduce new measures that will keep us all safe while guests experience our world-class zoological gardens. At Australia Zoo, our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our guests, team members, animals and the larger community is of the utmost priority and that’s why, together with Queensland’s Department of Health, we have introduced:

-Implementation of social distancing.
-Additional hand-washing facilities and hand sanitising stations.
-Frequent cleaning and sanitising of all surfaces and high touch areas.
-Signage to assist our guests to adhere to social distancing whilst visiting all areas of the Zoo.
-Contactless payment available throughout the Zoo.
-Spaced seating throughout outdoor dining areas.

In addition to the above, we have vast, outdoor open spaces with wide walkways for our guests to enjoy a wonderful day out with friends and family. Just like the rest of the world, this is a first for us and we are adapting and changing to cater to all the necessary protocols. This is certainly an exciting moment for Queensland! With 4 weeks until school holidays and the state open now is the time to book your getaway to get back out and explore post the Covid-19 lockdown. How exciting! To those of my followers in Queensland, now is the time to start booking your regional QLD getaway for this school holidays! As per the roadmap for Queensland you will be able to travel up to 250km. Let’s support our Queensland tourism industry!

BREAKING: The Ekka public holiday will move from Wednesday, 12 August to Friday, 14 August to support our tourism industry.

For one year only, People’s Day will become the People’s Long Weekend and I’m calling on people to use it as an opportunity to give our local tourism a boost.

Over the past 144 years, the Ekka has been the time when the bush meets the city.

Since that can’t happen this year, this gives the city the chance to go to the bush or the beach.

Local councils outside of Brisbane will be able to make similar arrangements for their show holidays.
