With one of the most active summer events calendars in the world, when it comes to festivals, Montréal, Canada is kind of a big deal. Backed by seasonal heat, lush greenery in full bloom and pedestrianised city streets and terrasses packed with revellers, Montréal is the place to be for fans of performance, art, theatre, dance, music, comedy and film every summer. And there’s so much going on at any given moment. Not only is there something to suit any taste, but many things for everyone to experience and enjoy from May through to September. That’s why each festival season, Montréal is at the top of the list.

Festival International De Jazz De Montréal, Oshega Festival, Gay Pride, Mural Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, Fête Des Neiges, Festival International Nuits D’Afrique, Just For Laughs, First Peoples Festival, Montreal International Fireworks Competition are just some of the amazing festivals you can experience!

One of the best things about my job is feeling and sharing the excitement of clients when they are just about to embark upon an amazing trip! This is especially true when I've been working with the clients in planning, coordinating, and making their dreams come true, even though I've never met them personally!

Take the "Figl" family pictured here! It's been an absolute pleasure working with them over the last few months, planning, structuring and creating a Fijian adventure that involves 3 different locations including 2 small islands and a resort which all promise to provide nothing but adventure and great memories!

After working through the planning and booking processes for this Port Lincoln family by phone and email, I couldn't resist the urge to meet them personally tonight, pre-departure, to put names to faces, wish them happy travels and get to know them!

"Vanuinui vinaka e nomu volau" .... Happy travels! 🇫🇯🥂🏄‍♀️🌴🤿🐟🦈🐠🌞

I can't wait to hear all about this adventure, which promises to be simply incredible!

Istanbul, Turkey. Clients Tracy and Scott loved this magical meeting place which straddles two continents. The city has more top-notch attractions than it has minarets (and that's a lot).

We've all heard the descriptions of Istanbul being a bridge between Europe and Asia, a place where East meets West and where cultures have coexisted for centuries. But not everyone is aware of its endlessly fascinating contradictions. Tracy and Scott found out during their visit with On The Go Tours, organised by yours truly.

History resonated when they visited the majestic Byzantine basilica of Aya Sofya.
The secrets of the seraglio were revealed during their visit to the opulent Ottoman Topkapi Palace complex occupying the promontory of Istanbul's Old City. Losing themselves in the city's Bazaar District, riding Istanbul ferries, getting acquainted with Turkish contemporary art, going underground at the Basilica Cistern, surrendering to the call of the steam at a Turkish bath house and so much more provided the couple with a new experience they'll never forget!

My valued clients Tracy and Scott were more than excited and ready for an unforgettable journey in a hot air balloon in the enchanting atmosphere during their recent stay in Cappadocia.

With a very early morning start, the two ticked off a bucket list moment as they soared through the sky and marvelled at the captivating landscapes below.

The Cappadocia hot air balloon tour offered Tracy and Scott the chance to view mysterious valleys, fairy chimneys, and the historical tapestry from above like a postcard. Accompanied by a colourful spectacle in the sky, they explored this magnificent scenery during sunrise hours!

Perfect! Tracy and Scott got to experience this whilst travelling through Turkey with the simply amazing On The Go Tours! On The Go Tours

I love it when clients send me messages and photos while they are travelling! It's a feel-good moment, knowing that I have been able to play a small part in helping them have a memorable vacation. 😊

Check out these wildlife and wilderness pictures sent in by Alexa and Richard, currently enjoying their motorhome self drive holiday in New Zealand! Beautiful! ♥️

Thailand ...... always a popular choice of destination for my clients.

Gleaming temples and golden Buddhas frame the landscapes in Thailand, serving as a stunning backdrop for tours of Bangkok noodle shacks and adventures along the luxurious coastline.

Silky-soft beaches, jungle-draped mountains, incredible food and a well-connected position at the heart of Southeast Asia have made Thailand a tourism hub for decades.

When people think of Thailand, they often think of relaxing on a pristine beach with a refreshing cold drink in their hand.

Although Thailand is indeed blessed when it comes to diversions of the sandy persuasion, this country of more than 513 sq km (198 sq miles) also boasts virgin forestland, picturesque mountains, lively nightlife, raucous markets and of course, cities with their own unique histories and cultures. Unlike what many would believe, Thailand is a multifaceted destination, appealing to everyone from the hedonistic foodie to the ascetic seeking enlightenment (and everyone in between).

Fly-and-flop aficionados will, of course head to a tropical island, as do most first timers to the country, dazzled by the variety of destinations peppering Thailand’s waters. Likewise, culture vultures are most suited to big cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, while nature enthusiasts will be best served by combing through the emerald-green mountains of the kingdom’s north and northeast or the jungles along Myanmar’s border. With decent railway infrastructure, buses, ferries, cars for hire and many airports, it's easy to get around: you just need to choose the places to visit in Thailand that best match your interests.

I've been ..... have you? Many of my clients are going and loving it too!

Dubai is a stirring alchemy of profound traditions and ambitious futuristic vision wrapped into starkly evocative desert splendour.

Prepare yourself for a city of extremes: Dubai is home to the world's tallest building, the most gargantuan mall and the largest indoor ski slope. There are restaurants from just about every nation on the planet, beaches where both the bikini- and burka-clad relax, vast empty deserts and crowded urban backstreets to explore.

So where to begin .... contact me!

Paris' monument-lined boulevards, museums, classical bistros and boutiques are enhanced by a new wave of multimedia galleries, creative wine bars, design shops and tech start-ups.

It's not the most affordable place to visit on the planet, but it's still high on the list for many of my clients! In fact I've got several staying there now!

Packed with iconic museums and monuments, together with low-key treasures cherished by locals, Paris is a city that emanates "la belle vie" (the good life).

Away from the highlights – the Louvre, Notre Dame and Eiffel Tower – Parisian life ticks along with a coffee on a terrace, a bike ride along the Seine, and wine-fueled lunches with friends in noisy bistros. Blending the blockbuster experiences with these local delights is the key to experiencing the best of Paris.

I can't get enough of Africa and I love arranging African adventures for my clients. It's once again a popular destination
Having been myself a few times, I'd love to chat with you about all this incredible continent has to offer including the chance to get up close to some amazing wildlife experiences! Here's a poem to whet your appetite!

THE CALL OF AFRICA

When you have acquired a taste for the dust,
and the scent of our first rain,
You're hooked for life on Africa,
and you'll not be right again.
Until you can watch the setting moon
and hear the jackals bark,
And know they're all around you,
waiting in the dark.

When you long to see the elephants,
or hear the coucal's song,
When the moonrise sets your blood on fire,
then you've been away too long.
It is time to cut the traces loose,
and let your heart go free,
Beyond that far horizon
where your spirit longs to be.

Africa is waiting - come!
Since you've touched the open sky
and learned to love the rustling grass
and the wild fish eagle's cry.
You'll always hunger for the bush;
for the lion's rasping roar,
To camp at last beneath the stars
and be at peace once more.

A poem by C. Emily Dibb

Popular this year, is motorhome and campervan rental in New Zealand! Given, .... it's not everyone's cup of tea, but those clients of mine who have or are currently utilising this combined mode of transport and accommodation have nothing but good feedback to offer!

Explore the beauty of Aotearoa through an epic New Zealand road trip on a motorhome or campervan rental.

Motorhomes or campervans are the ultimate accommodation choice for flexibility on a driving holiday. A home on the road gives you the freedom to take each day as it comes, roam the country and find beautiful and remote places to park and camp.

Campervans and motorhomes are available for pick up from New Zealand's main centres. Some companies will offer flexible pick-up and drop-off options, allowing you to travel from one point to another instead of a round trip.

Motorhomes are larger vehicles that have more generous living areas. Some come fully equipped with showers and toilets.

Campervans are the slightly smaller cousins of motorhomes, typically the size of a van. Not all campervans are self-contained, so you need to check this if you plan on freedom camping. These smaller vehicles can be easier to drive and park.

Australian Passport Price are set to rise on 1st July 2024!

Is your passport needing to be renewed?

Now is the time to action this before the price rise, increasing to $397.90 AUD.

From 01 July 2024, passport fees will increase by 15%, as advised by the Treasurer in the latest budget.

Another new change is the introduction of a faster processing time - applications can now be processed within five business days for a $100 additional fee.

Previously only two options were available:

- Standard - taking up to 6 weeks
- Fast track, a two day turnaround which currently costs an additional $252.

England is always high on the list of destinations for my clients and I love recommending and finding unique places to stay for them in the stunning Lake District (or Lakeland, as it's commonly known.

It's by far the UK's most popular national park. Every year, some 15 million people pitch up to explore the region's fells and countryside, and it's not hard to see why.

Ever since the Romantic poets arrived in the 19th century, its postcard panorama of craggy hilltops, mountain tarns and glittering lakes has been stirring the imaginations of visitors. Since 2017 it has also been a Unesco World Heritage Site, in recognition of its unique hill-farming culture.

I'm currently looking after several clients who are heading off to Oslo in Norway during both their winter and summer. Having been to Oslo myself, I can guarantee they are going to love it!

Whether you’re making the most of the midnight sun or deep in the dark depths of the northern winter, you’ll find plenty to do in Norway’s capital city.

New openings in recent years – the Deichman Library, Munch and the National Museum – reflect the city’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage for centuries to come. And there’s plenty of artistic and literary creativity to celebrate here: Not only did local landscapes inspire artworks by painter Edward Munch, Oslo was also home to Norwegian playwright Henrik Isben for the last 15 years of his life. If you’re planning to make the most of the city’s many museums, it’s worth buying the Oslo Pass that gives free admission to 30 different sights as well as use of the public transportation system.

Surrounded by mountains and sea, this compact, cultured and fun city has a palpable sense of reinvention.

The things we do when we travel! Here's a funny story sent to me by a couple of 50 something year old clients currently in Turkey. This humorous, must-read is just one of the adventures and unusual experiences they have encountered whilst staying in Istanbul. Please read, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 🤣🤣🛀
........

"Ok for those following along at home and after many requests for an update on the Turkish bath experience…..here’s the TripAdvisor review I’ve submitted….. I suspect this may not get published. Memories of magic and a tonne of pant wetting laughs. Grab a coffee if you’re interested….. long post to follow…..

Traditional Turkish bath - TripAdvisor review
Sadly not great….
We were hyped, well when I say we, I mean me…… but Peterman (pretend husband) was incredibly skeptical and was dragged along.

So with a booking they had to be at 6pm …. And well ok….. I made the booking counting the 45 minutes of services (joint), 15 mins for them being late that still left 90 mins for us to be where we needed to be after - I went for it.

Instant confirmation! Success…..
We worked out it was only a 5 min walk from hotel so perfect - off we set……
Sketchy street entrance, but hey I’m thinking authentic right? Skeptical Peterman already peaking….. so in we went…

Then tick tock…. People queued, to get in and in the waiting area…. Wow this place must be awesome I’m thinking?
So we wait, and wait…… time is moving slower than a watched pot, Peterman flexes some muscle, I explain care factor zero as they’ve already got my cash….. slight delay they say….. this goes on and on…… over an hour…..

Some of the interesting things that occurred as we waited….

- trenchcoat Trevor with slicked back fragments of hair in and out with his general manager tone, taking complaining people outside to voice their concerns so as not to upset the rest of us

- One of the masseuses (or are they Turkish bathists?) comes into reception and crouches down behind the counter…. We can’t see what he is doing from our low stained soiled couch, but the unmistakeable sound of the click click as he clips his nails (I hope fingernails) is deafening….. sideeyes all round at this point from all of us paying patrons!

- Then the same, Turkish bathist, collects lovely tea cups with those fingers that had been housing the grime of those fingernails and rounds them back to a kitchen

Anyway…… finally it’s our turn!!!! At 705pm…… By now we had seen that everyone was wearing togs, slight problem we didn’t bring togs…. Ok we will skip the swimming bit…. But hey this is traditional right so you’re supposed to be naked???? But we did have knickers on so no problem
We are walked through the adjoining very fancy and salubrious hotel lobby as the hammans lift wasn’t working…. Ok no problem, this seems gorgeous.

Off to our little cubicle for 2 to change (no togs remember) and wrap ourselves in the towel and put everything in our locker
It was now it went from bad to worse, we were given little slippers…… the proverbial here SLIP! SLIP SLIP SLIP…… the things are not to be worn on very wet marble floors!!! At this point Peterman is leading the way down the precarious spiral staircase and thud thud thud….. before I’d even gotten to the corner I know that sound…. The sound of said Peterman falling down the stairs…. thanks SLIPpers….. up he gets, shaken but not perturbed on this quest!

SLIPpers removed we paddle along behind our leader towards our traditional Turkish scrubbing bliss.

Remember the salubrious hotel lobby? Well by now it was packed with people enjoying drinks and tea and pre dinner canapés….To our horror, we were now paraded back up the lift in only a towel paddling along in bare foot ….. I watched Peterman's towel clinging to his hips only just…… just waiting for it to fall!

By this time I need to go to to the loo, so I have to choose to either risk serious concussion and potential death in the slippers, or germ hell by going bare feet…. I risk death and wear slippers…. Good choice me, as it was filthy.

Anyway, in we go to our semi private (as in half a door, so yeah was semi) and wait….. praying it would not be the fingernail man from earlier…. Behold it’s not! It’s a lovely very petite little lady….. I fumble along that we don’t have togs on…. And she seems ok with that and gets to work.

I go first so as to give Peterman an idea of what to expect…. This is where more of the delay comes as there was only one lady scrubbing not 1 each…..Water splashing, scrubbing, clay smothering, and yes all over….. arms and legs hoisted and a face splash making me realise water boarding must truly be torturous!

Whilst my clay is drying it’s Petermans turn….. this is when I could no longer hold in laughter….. a fair bit of eyebrow lifting and eye rolling from Peterman….. then lovely little lady drops her clay clump she’s rubbing all over Peterman and in the haste to grab it smacks him in the nuts (clay was grabbed tho!)

Yet on she continues - what a trooper! I’m laughing cracking my clay….. and then the foaming scrub starts…this bit is actually really nice….. like too many suds in the washer, but nice…… waterboarding returns and then boom it’s Petermans turn for clay removal and foaming!

What this poor lovely little lady must have thought about us 2 overweight whales I guess we will never know…..

Time is up and we scurry (barefooted and looking like drowned rats) BACK THROUGH THE BEAUTIFUL LOBBY….. the embarrassment just too much…..
dressed and ready to go, still with wet hair and looking all flustered we skedaddle BACK AGAIN THROUGH BEAUTIFUL LOBBY to return to reception area to fingernail guy, trenchcoat Trevor and the other waiting customers……

Whilst we won’t be back to this establishment, it hasn’t put me off trying another Turkish bath experience, just at a different place. Pererman on the other hand unlikely to succumb again!"

🤣🤣🤣

Hot on the list for my clients with or without children is Disneyland Paris!

An entertainment resort in Marne-la-Vallée, France, located about 32 kilometres (20 miles) east of Paris. It encompasses two theme parks, seven Disney-owned hotels, two convention centres, a golf course, and a shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. Opened on 12 April 1992, the resort is operated by Disney Experiences, a division of The Walt Disney Company.

From all reviews I've had, the key is to allow yourself a couple of days to have fun! There's a lot to take in!

Japan has been a very popular choice of destination for several of my clients over the past 12 months and it's popularity doesn't seem to be waning with forward bookings through to as far as April 2025.

Japan offers up a real feast for travellers, with mountainside onsen (hot spring) villages, beach-lined islands, and buzzing megacities all on the menu.

You could arguably spend a lifetime sampling the country’s delights, but some towns and sights are staples – core ingredients to any great Japan trip.

Have you been? I have and loved it!
