Guest's Review:
“We had an awesome experience!
My partner and I are visiting Australia from Canada this Christmas holiday period. Bruce was very helpful about accommodating a booking for a cottage stay and astronomy tour far in advance when we started planning in June. He was very communicative and helpful in planning our arrival from Melbourne and what we would need for the stay.
Bruce was welcoming and entertaining as host, and he led an excellent tour of the December highlights of the Southern skies using his giant 20 inch SDM dobsonian telescope. We enjoyed every minute of the tour! Highlights included 47 Tucanae, the Tarantula Nebula, Eta Carina Nebula, the Jewel Box Cluster, the Pincushion Cluster, the Silver Coin Galaxy, excellent views of Venus, Saturn and Jupiter, and of course the Orion Nebula. It was so cool to explore targets in constellations we cannot see in the Northern Hemisphere and to get such breathtaking views that only a truly big telescope can deliver!
The cottage is well maintained, steps away from a beautiful remote beach on the Bass Strait. We enjoyed a quiet relaxing day with time on the beach, a walk in the quiet community enjoying the architecture of the cottages and the beautiful flowers and plant life, and a short drive to look at the water fowl on Lake Reeve.” Michael W Google

“We booked for an overnight stay and astronomy tour and had a terrific time. Bruce was an excellent host and guide to the stars, galaxies, nebula, and planets. Viewing conditions were great and the ease of having the telescope in the backyard was super convenient. If you’ve any interest in the night sky, this is a must do stop to see what’s right above us. Thanks Bruce !”

Greg Quicke's Astronomy Tours ... Broome, Western Austtralia
Commiserations to Greg Quicke's family and friends for his recent passing. I never spoke to him ... and we're from opposite points on the Australian continent, but he did a lot for astronomy and bringing it to the people and I know how much that means to folk who enjoy these moments under the stars. Vale Greg. Bruce Renowden Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours, Gippsland, Victoria.

This May Be The Tour Of A Lifetime

... It Has Been Almost 14 Billion Years In The Making

I’m Bruce Renowden, your host at Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours and I’ve been interested in astronomy all my life - as a hobbyist, not a scientist.

As luck would have it, fate has ended up with me owning a wonderful telescope made right here in Victoria (optics are from the U.S.) by probably the best maker of this type of telescope in the world (Peter Read of SDM Telescopes). This is in combination with owning a property in one of the nicest places to view the night sky and stargaze in Victoria; a beachfront property situated in a quiet seaside hamlet with dark skies and peaceful rustic surrounds. As if one were not enough, it’s rare to find two such adventure playgrounds in the one space. An endless pristine beach where much of the time yours will be the only footprints, and an alluring dark sky dotted with pin-point stars patiently awaiting your inquisitive interrogation. An Astro Tour at The Honeysuckles may well be the best tour you’ve taken in a long time. To top it off - and it’s no secret amongst the astronomical franternity, the southern skies provide the best selection of Deep Space Objects (DSO) to view from Earth! That all adds up to this part of the south-east corner of Australia being a great place to spend a few hours, or a few days, to take up and enjoy what’s on offer.

We provide a range of tour options for “astro-travelers”. Guests can choose from an Evening Under The Stars, to a package stay over two days and nights with our Autumn Tour Packages. Please browse our Honeysuckles Astronomy Tours website to see what type of AstroTour experience suits you best, or give us a call to discuss your plans ... I’d love to host you for a few hours, or a day or two and talk to you and show you some remarkable sights up in the night sky. It really is a wonderful world up there with colour and structure most find completely unexpected. Like me, afterwards you will view the world you live in very differently ... and I’m sure it will be for the better.
