Did you know turtles have shorts tails, however after reaching sexual maturity (in their 30’s!), males grow an elongated tail which houses the reproductive organ! 😲🐢

On the 8th of June we celebrated ‘World Ocean Day’ by having the privilege to speak to the next generation at Mastery Schools Australia about the marine life in our coastal Waters and how to help save our Oceans.

We ran a bunch of different activities that the students were able to engage in and talked about the importance of protecting our special eco system and the wonderful animals inside it, with lots of questions and prizes to win!

As this is the next generation to step into our place, the team at Cooly Eco Adventures feel very honoured to have been able to teach these youngsters about the Ocean and to watch them grow into the next generation of Eco warriors.💪🏻

A whale of a tail 💙🐋 This whale approached us almost instantly as we arrived to watch… we slowed down about 300m and and observed two whales pec slapping 🤩 Both whales began pec slapping over towards the boat, then seemed to dive deep… Only to continue this behaviour, over and over! Coming closer to swimmers each time! Amazing to witness and when you get a Humpback that mugs (a behaviour known as a mugging is just this when whales swim under and around the boat for sometimes over an hour) and you have people in the water is the pinnacle of whale swims!! We stopped the boat and then this happened! Humpbacks will sometimes stop swimming on their migrations and start displaying natural surface behaviours. Humpback whales although they are only the 5th largest whale, have the largest pectoral fins (side fins) of all the Whales and can weigh up to one tonne!
