How great is it to pick up the kids from school on a Friday afternoon and head away for the weekend? Seeing those smiling, happy faces, playing in the back yard gives me so much joy 😊

With lots of space to roam, plus the trampoline and swing set, the youngsters will entertain themselves for hours at Sea Breeze Retreat!

Wallaroo is less than 2 hours drive from Adelaide, so you can be unpacked and sipping a glass of wine by 6pm. Cheers 🥂

Did you know that Wallaroo jetty is 869 metres long, and up to 10 metres deep? That makes for some great fishing!

The jetty is a hotspot for blue swimmer crabs and squid in the warmer months, while garfish, tommy ruff and mullet are common year round. Snapper and the occasional kingfish can be caught off the end of the jetty too, usually after rough weather.

Sea Breeze Retreat is just 12 minutes walk to the Wallaroo jetty and we have an outdoor fishing sink on the property, ready to clean your catch!

Creamy Prawn Linguini *Recipe Alert*

Here's the perfect winter getaway recipe, using delicious local Spencer Gulf prawns 🍤

Ingredients:
320g dried linguini pasta
400g raw prawns, peeled and deveined
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic
1 small chili, finely chopped (optional)
2 teaspoons lemon zest
4 tablespoons lemon juice
310ml thickened cream
4 tablespoons flat leaf parsley, chopped
sea salt & freshly ground pepper
1 cup of pasta water

Method:
1. Cook pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until just al dente. Drain and reserve 1 cup of water.
2. In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, add the oil and butter. Once butter has melted, add the prawns and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side or until they are almost cooked through.
3. Remove prawns from the pan and set them aside.
4. Add the garlic and chili to the same pan, and cook for 1 minute.
5. Add the lemon zest and juice and scrape the bottom of the pan to get all of the flavour.
6. Add in the cream. Cook, stiring for 2 minutes. Return prawns and add the pasta.
7. Add a little pasta water and stir well to combine for 1-2 minutes.
8. Season to taste and serve, garnished with fresh parsley.

Pairs perfectly with Watervale Riesling 🍷

There's something special about staying in a 100 year old heritage home. Our property has been fully rennovated, including a brand new bathroom and original kitchen with antique stove (for display purposes only!). But my favourite thing if I had to choose something would be relaxing on the front porch with a morning coffee (or evening wine!) watching the world go by...

School holiday fun!

Wallaroo has a fantastic adventure playground in the centre of town, just 5 minutes walk from Sea Breeze Retreat. The flying fox is a real winner for kids (and adults) of all ages!
