A bit stumped for school holiday plans 🤔? How about a day out on the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail... 🚴‍♀️

This relatively flat rail trail weaves its way through idyllic countryside 🌿 beneath the majestic backdrop of the Great Dividing Range.

The total length of the trail is 63km (Traralgon-Stratford), but with a series of short cycling 🚴‍♀️ stretches linking together warm and welcoming villages - the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail is just perfect for families. 🫶

Soak up some unpretentious charm and good old-fashioned hospitality at the many pit-stops along the way - country cafes ☕, pubs 🍻 and wineries 🥂 – ok, this is as much of a foodie journey as it is a bike ride. 💁‍♀️

Is there anything more romantic than a lighthouse 🔦 overlooking steely grey waters, warning sailors of perils beneath the waves? 🌊

The gorgeous Cape Liptrap Lighthouse stands upon a rocky and isolated cliff in the Cape Liptrap Coastal Park 🌿, and offers up some pretty speccy coastal views. To reach the lighthouse, take a turnoff on the road to Walkerville South and a short walk 🚶‍♀️ from the car park.

At a whopping 21m tall and 102 m long, Noojee Trestle Bridge is kind of a big deal😉 and is one of the few remaining of its kind in Victoria. 😮

Perched upon the old railway line and is surrounded by mountain ash forest, the Noojee Trestle Bridge is the starting point for a number of walking 🚶 and cycling 🚴 tracks that carve their way through the towering forest 🌳.

👊 We love Agnes Falls, set high in the hills above Toora. It's only a short walk 🚶‍♀️ from the car park to see this stunning cascade 💦, tumbling down a 59m drop. With over 600 kilometres of coastline, Gippsland is spoilt with its choice of beaches. From wild, windswept coastlines to calm protected bays, there is so much diversity to explore. The region also offers you the opportunity to see wildlife ‘in the wild’, with kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, koalas and emus relaxed in their natural environment.

Gippsland’s food, wine and beer scene is expanding year on year with renowned chefs and winemakers moving to set up exciting new venues in the region, drawn by its array of premium, cool climate wines, quality cheese, free range meats, seafood and organic fruit and vegetables. Our region now boasts two hatted restaurants and many awarded wineries of which we are all very proud.
