The Great Barrier Reef covers 344,400 square kilometres and includes some 3000 coral reefs. It is also makes up around 10% of the world's coral reef ecosystems.

An easy way for you to care for the reef the next time you're exploring in our oceans is to wear Reef Safe Sunscreen. Non-reef safe sunscreen has been linked to coral reef deterioration.

Small changes can be a part of big movements.

The beautiful natural environments in Flinders Ranges and Outback , like Alligator Gorge, are awe-inspiring, ancient and irreplaceable. Follow tread lightly principles and try to have as little impact as possible. We want to enjoy these precious regions in the right way and protect them for future generations.

Be the kind of traveller you want to meet in your hometown. Be respectful, responsible and give back.

According to the UN Environment Program and UN World Tourism Organization Sustainable Tourism is defined as: “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities.”

A lot of Australia's best destinations also happen to be ecologically fragile and located in regional communities. We are playing our part to help travellers make choices that look after our country for generations to come. The Aussie Travel Code is for everyone.
