Today marks 12 months since the devastating Northern Rivers floods. We, like many others lost a lot and our business suffered greatly.

We were so thankful to be able to assist the community throughout the recovery efforts in the weeks that followed.

Our hearts are with the community and the many other business owners still recovering from their loss.

We are back up and running so remember to let your friends and family know the best way to see our beautiful region is on a flight with us!

As the immediate emergency situation evolves into recovery, we wanted to offer our most heartfelt appreciation to all who joined us in the massive rescue and supply effort. 

The Rotorwing/ Flybyron team, like many civilian organised groups, has been working around the clock in extreme weather and circumstances. At times we have been at a loss for words: At the sheer resilience, strength and passion members of our community showed as we all kicked in and got the job done.

From Monday the 28th of February and for the following 10 days collectively the civilian helicopter response delivered in excess of 250 individual essential food and medical relief support drops across the region.

We want to acknowledge all the people involved in what has been a life changing experience for most. 

Our Rotorwing / Fly Byron team:
Pilots - Micheal Barnes, Mark Wright and Matthew Cooper
Crew - Stuart Wright, Angus Robb, Neil Colter, Brad Costello and  Roger Fry.
Management & Ground operations- Jessica Barnes, Ashlee Jones, Emily & Micheal Witten

Essential Energy: 
The Company that tasked us to help restore power to the region that allowed us to run crucial food and water supplies between jobs at their cost. Without this initial funding, dozens of food supply flights would not have been made so promptly.

Private funding of the helicopter operation: 
Chris & Elsa Hemsworth, facilitated by AVMIN & Community donations via GoFundMe, Keeping the multiple helicopters in the air. 

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the helicopter owners, pilots, crews for their ongoing and dedicated assistance with the civilian response to the Northern Rivers 2022 flood disaster.

Community led supplies: 
Endless donations and tireless volunteers 

Since 2014 Rotorwing Helicopters, based in Lismore, has been a primary firefighting and shark patrol service operating in the Northern Rivers, more recently - our subsidiary company - Fly Byron was established to offer the best recreational flights in the area. 

We love this community and feel so proud to have been able to offer the help we were able to with the support of all the people mentioned above. Don’t Give up.
