Day 14 - Many days throughout this tour we asked each other "What day/time is it?" This was definitely one of those days. You know you have switched off from everyday madness and are in relaxed holiday mode when you don't know what day it is. This was our day of chilling on Trizonia island with no cars and a population of 55. We met up with a family friend over coffee who gave us his perspective and a bit of history as a local of Trizonia. We finished off with a delicious meal (tour inclusion).

There was guided tour of the Delphi Museum and Archeological site to fully understand this significant place in Greek history and mythology. We had a delicious seaside lunch at Erateini before driving through many local seaside and mountainous villages, and visiting our village home and hearing about how grandparents lived. We are very thankful for our wonderful driver for the day- cousin . 🙏 We couldn't have done all of this without him.

Day 11- Phew- today is a rest day and an opportunity to explore Nafpaktos on your own. Late afternoon was spent visiting the well preserved Nafpaktos Venetian Castle- with its five walls (two important walls leading to the port) and over 30 bastions - which played an important role in the battle against the Ottomans 1407 - 1499 and was critical in a number of Ottoman and Venetian periods of rule following this. We walked back to the port via the old town within the walls but not before stopping for a drink with the most amazing views!

Day 14 had a local village feel. 🇬🇷We visited our family home and heard how our grandparents raised their family during difficult times and explored the home. 👵🧓We then took a short boat trip 🚤 to the only inhabited island in the Corinthian Gulf, Trizonia 🏝. A family friend was able to give a personal account of his life growing up in this beautiful part of the world. We ended the day with a trip to the Nafpaktos Venetian Castle and a walk back to the port through the old town within the Fort walls.🏰 It was a big day and lots of fun.🚶‍♀️😊

Monemvasia castle is a special place to visit. This fort has been inhabited since 6th century A.D. , it is a labyrinth of alleyways and beautiful buildings. It was so windy on the day that we visited that we didn't get to experience all of its delights, but that didn't detract from its beauty.
