The perfect cozy bed recipe: start with soft, cozy sheets (renewable h**p and bamboo for us) and add plenty of luxe pillows for a luxurious feel. Layer on a warm comforter and throw blanket. Finish with a few decorative pillows to signal the invitation to dive in.

Sharing some sneak peek snaps from around our cozy cottage as we prepare for the arrival of our Easter guests.

Two couples are joining us for a blissful retreat, ready to indulge in the simple things. Think mouthwatering cheese platters paired with vino, enjoyed amidst laughter and heartfelt conversations.

The wood fire is set to light for added ambience and the herb garden is flourishing so they can hand pick fresh herbs to elevate their culinary creations. A feast for the senses.

And who knows? Perhaps one of the wild (Easter) bunnies will visit for the occasion!

We get excited about compost around here so the kitchen island in the cottage is a custom built recycling station!
It has dedicated bin spaces so we can maximise our recycling potential and feed our hungry wormies in the septic system.
Also the recommended chopping spot when cooking up a storm in the kitchen, if you can stop yourself gazing out across the paddocks and dam. 🖤♻️

We’ve been landscaping!!
Creating in built recessed garden beds, stairs and a courtyard pad ready for paving.
Still getting there but closer and closer to our end goal.
If Mother Nature plays nice, we will be guest ready before the years end.

She is still a work in progress and coming along beautifully!

Wanting to mention today some of our sustainability measures. Caring for our planet is a value we hold tight so integrating principles that uphold that into Collombatti Cottage has been imperative for us.

She is BAL 29 rated, a small home at 100m2. We are second generation owners and are building with intention and future generations in mind. Our goals are all electric with high efficiency and sustainability.

We have managed 6kw if solar on the roof of the exising dwelling and trenched 100m down to the Cottage. We have used high quality Rec N Peak panels and a Fronius inverter.

We have installed two heat pumps for hot water - an iStore system and a sanden on new build. They were installed at the same time so will be a great side by side comparison.

Groundwork’s have included a worm farm septic and a 110 000 litre tank (almost full thanks to this delicious rain).

Insulation, we managed to get to R4 including the cemintel bare stone sheeting. We also did spray foam underfloor insulation which provides the build with no echo under the blackbutt hardwood floors.

We have quality double glazed windows and doors throughout and have included breezeways into the design for great cross ventilation.

For cooling and heating, we have covered all bases. Ceiling fans in each room and will do reverse cycle air conditioning soon. We have a wood oven which can be used for cooking/baking (alongside our induction cooktop) with a constant timber sources on site.

The rear deck recesses will be utilised as garden spaces for a bit of lush greenery.

We have included a ceiling recess across the entire rear wall which will contain block out and lovely sheer curtains.

Next on the list is decking and the creation of a comfortable, useful outdoor space to enjoy the view and sunsets!

Future plans include covering the deck with a versiclad roof and a front courtyard with picking gardens!

A mammoth effort from a beyond amazing team and the cottage was escorted and coaxed into position.

We are so grateful and completely over the moon! Cue the painting and sunset viewing.

The cottage is coming along nicely. Modular building is quite remarkable really. Just one more week to go, then the fun starts for us!
