🎥 theme parks are definitely different when travelling for kids (lining up for ages to get on small rides not the thrill rides we wanted to go on) but it was worth it to see the kids faces when they met all of the characters 💗 Tip: the tacos at Dirty Harrys are amazing 😋

Any trip to the far south coast NSW in December or January needs to include a visit to the 🫐 We were lucky they extended their season and went there on Saturday and the kids had so much fun picking blueberries and strawberries. Their berry ice cream is amazing as well! They have one more weekend left to visit on the 19th and 20th of February 💗🫐💗🍓💗

If you want to get your blood pumping (and a face full of water) a tour to Crystal Canyon to go canyoning is a must from Cairns! It includes rock jumps ranging from 1-7 metres, abseils up to 30 metres high and a fun zip line (just don’t go upside down like Myles did on his go haha)!

If you’re looking for a different dining experience in Cairns why not try the Aquarium by twilight tour with 3 course dinner. You get exclusive after hours access to the aquarium which includes a welcome drink and appetisers, an ecologist 2 hour guided tour where you can see for yourself how the marine animals behaviour changes as the sun sets, then a further two courses at Dundee’s restaurant on site with views of their 70,000 litre saltwater aquarium within the restaurant!
Check out some of the amazing photos my clients got during their dining experience last night 😍

It is so exciting to see domestic travel bookings picking up again. Last month I sent a dancing school to the Gold Coast for workshops, I had an elopment in Port Douglas, an extremely belated honeymoon to Tasmania, some staycations in Sydney, hiking in Jindabyne and a family holiday to Canberra.
This month Far North Queensland is definitely getting alot of love with numerous clients heading up to Cairns and Port Douglas to escape the Winter cold.
Just remember the June school holidays are coming up fast and hotels are already starting to be booked out.
If you're ready to book your next adventure I would love to hear from you [email protected]

On Sunday we split up for the first time all trip. Louie went and did an oyster tour at the Freycinet Marine Farm. During the tour they get up close and personal with all aspects of oyster farming and get to enjoy some oysters at the end. Iris, Nash and I dropped Louie off and drove the twenty minutes through Coles Bay into Freycinet National Park. There was an option to do a two hour return hike to Wineglass Bay lookout but I didn’t like my chances of not having to carry two children for at least part of that, so we went the safer option of Honeymoon bay. There is a small car park and an easy five minute walk down to the beautiful scenery here. It was chilly but we all went for a paddle and the kids loved waving to everyone doing the kayak tour as they went past. We had lunch with Daddy at the oyster farm where they had half a crayfish and sides for only $38! We then drove the two hours to Launceston to catch up with some family for dinner then check into Peppers Silo hotel for our two night stay.

Saturday was Salamanca market day. The kids loved exploring all the stalls and getting freshly squeezed apple juice. From there we drove to MONA which you could visit for the architecture alone. We had to brush off some questions about some exhibitions haha. The children loved the outdoor playground and ice cream stand, the live music, bars and food outlets could also warrant a visit on their own without even stepping foot into the museum. After MONA we drove the two hours and twenty minutes to Bicheno. We stopped off at Richmond for a quick visit to the bridge, then enjoyed some lobster when we got into Bicheno by the water before our penguin tour. Nash loved the “ducks” as he kept yelling out whenever they waddled past, Iris was paranoid they would bite her toes haha! On Sunday we split up and did two different activities but more about that tomorrow!

On Friday we headed to the 19th century former penal settlement of Port Arthur which is a 90 minute drive from Hobart. This world heritage site is the best conserved convict site in Australia. The children loved exploring the ruins and doing the 25 minute harbour cruise. You can navigate most of the site with a pram, but Nash preferred to run around with Iris. On our way we stopped off at Blue Lagoon oyster so Louie could enjoy a dozen oysters in the sun. After Port Arthur we drove the 15 minutes further south to check out the Remarkable Cave. Lots of steps lead down to the viewing platform so Nash had to be carried. Worth it for the view though! More of Hobart and Bicheno to come tomorrow.

Yesterday we cruised the majestic Gordon River with World Heritage Cruises who are family owned and operated since 1896. First stop was Hells Gates and because we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather (and the roaring forties were being nice) we actually left the harbour and went all the way up to Cape Sorell and Whale Rock where a lot of boats in the past have been lost. We then visited Liberty Point where the local aquaculture pens stock Atlantic salmon and trout, and spotted some cheeky seals trying to get an easy meal. Next stop was Sarah Island and the convict ruins, this place had the reputation for being one of the harshest convict settlements. Some dolphins followed us for part of this. Last stop was cruising up the World Heritage Gordon River to Heritage landing for a walk through the amazing ancient rainforests. Iris and Nash also got to visit the captain and co pilot some of the river (well they thought so haha)
After investing in a beautiful Huon Pine serving platter from the local saw mill we drove from Strahan to Hobart via Queenstown. The scenery was breathtaking! We are now set up in Hobart at Somerset on the Pier in a premier family apartment which is the perfect location to explore Hobart and surrounds over the next couple of days.
