Probably one of four iconic photos of the American War in Việt Nam, Thích Quảng Đức self-immolates in protest over the Điệm regime's maltreatment of and unfairness to Buddhists - President Nôg Đinh Diệm was a Catholic. The lgeend goes that after his body was recovered, it was taken away and secretly cremated. Diệm had closed the Crematoria, another Buddhist grievence. Then when his remains were taken from the oven, his body had been burnt to ashes but his heart remained intact. The legend goes on to say it was held in an urn in a bank in downtown Sài Gòn.

It was once called the Grall Hospital and the Hopital Militaire. Now it is the Bênh Viện Nhi Động II, a Children's Hospital. There is a huge amount of history attached to this hospital. Perhaps the least is the fact that on 28 April 1975, journalist were told to congegate outside its front gates where they would be met by US military buses to take them to the Tân Sơn Nhất Airport for evacuation.
