The Lake Weyba suspension bridge opened late last year as part of the Lake Weyba Foreshore trail.

Only 15 mins drive north of Coolum it is a great spot during the school holidays. The lake is very shallow so a perfect spot for little kids to splash around.

This trail starts from the foreshore at Lake Weyba Drive and meanders along the lakeside, and sometimes in it depending on the tide.

Along the trail you will see the stunning Horseman Creek. Here you will walk across the 24 meter long suspension bridge.

Incredible news! 😱 A small pod of orcas have been spotted just off the coast of Coolum Beach this morning.

A lucky tourist captured this unbelievable moment. Locals are heading to the lookout points right now to catch a glimpse. 👀

Discover a hidden world beneath the tides at Coolum’s rock pools! 🐚

From tiny crabs scuttling between the rocks to colourful fish and even a sea hare or two. There’s so much marine life to explore. 🐠

Rock pools are a great way to connect with nature and learn about the ocean. Little adventurers throughly enjoy exploring the rock pools. The best time to explore is during low tide but always be mindful of slippery surfaces and waves.

The best locations for rock pooling are:

📍 On the right hand side of Main Beach under the cliffs

When the swell from Cyclone Alfred rolled in, the local surfers were stoked! 🌊🏄‍♂️

But big swell often brings more than just waves, it also washes up rubbish and debris on our beautiful beaches.

Now’s the perfect time to Take 3 for the Sea (or as much as you can carry). Next time you’re enjoying the beach, pick up any rubbish you see, every little bit makes a difference!

Now this is pure sunrise joy! 🌅 Just picture the excitement on this pup’s face!

Start your day the best way, on the beach with your furry best mate. 🐾 Coolum’s off-leash dog beach is a dream for dogs and their humans!

It stretches from the northern end of Coolum’s main beach (Entrance 72, near the Coolum Caravan Park) all the way to 1km north of Stumers Creek (Entrance 67).

At Stumers Creek, dogs can splash in the shallow water and race along the sand. Plus, there’s even a dog-wash station at the car park to rinse off after all the fun!

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team at Coolum Coast Care for their dedication and hard work during Cyclone Albert. Their efforts in relocating and excavating turtle nests over the past few days have been nothing short of amazing. Thanks to them, these precious hatchlings have a fighting chance to reach the ocean and beyond.

We also want to acknowledge their ongoing commitment to protecting our coastline and keeping our local turtle nests safe. These guardians of the dunes work tirelessly to preserve our coastal habitat, and we are so grateful for all they do.

A Friendly Reminder: Please stay off the sand dunes as many turtle nests remain. While it may seem fun to run up the dunes, it’s important to respect this delicate ecosystem so it can recover and thrive after the wild weather. Together, we can help keep our beaches safe for future generations of turtles! 💚 🐢

Due to the forecasted impacts of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the team has made the decision to postpone Salty Saturdays in Coolum Beach to Saturday, March 22. The safety of the visitors, vendors, and team is the top priority.

The long days of summer are winding down, but we are ready to welcome autumn with open arms!

It brings a welcomed break from the heat with cooler mornings, and evenings. It's the perfect time to strap on your hiking shoes and get out amongst our beautiful mountains. ⛰
