This morning Scenic Eclipse II sailed into Sydney Harbour, after completing the inaugural Pacific Ocean crossing. This is the first Scenic ship to sail into Australia, where the company was founded 38 years ago. ​

Scenic Group Chairman and Founder, Glen Moroney, said “as an Australian-founded company, we are proud to set the global benchmark for ultra-luxury yacht cruising. We look forward to welcoming Scenic Eclipse II in Newcastle and the many ports along the East Coast and Top End of Australia. The ship will then continue the journey across the Oceania region for the 2024 to 2026 seasons.”​

Scenic Eclipse II is now docked at the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and will move to White Bay Terminal on Saturday evening. The ship is scheduled to depart from Sydney at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon and will arrive in Newcastle from 6.30am on Monday, 22 April.

The city of Venice (Italy) has introduced a charge for day-visitors who visit the island between the hours of 8am and 4pm. The charge is €5 per person, per day, and is payable online in advance.

Please note that this only applies to day visitors. Passengers staying overnight are exempt, as they are charged the existing city tax upon checkout instead. Overnight visitors are therefore advised to register for an exemption online https://cda.ve.it/en/ before arrival.

🛳️ REMOVAL OF COVID-19 MEASURES CONFIRMED 🛳️

Australia’s last remaining Covid-19 measures for cruise passengers have been removed, effective immediately, bringing Australia into line with other countries internationally.
This is a welcome move and gives clarity to cruise guests ahead of the coming summer season. As the last major cruise destination in the world to maintain cruise-specific measures, Australia’s ongoing testing and vaccination requirements had been causing confusion among travellers, particularly as measures on land and at airports had been removed.

The end of cruise-specific requirements has been confirmed in a letter to CLIA from Australia’s Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly, following a decision by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC).

The governments of New South Wales and Queensland have also confirmed to CLIA that requirements have been removed at the state level, effective immediately. Other states are expected to make similar adjustments in line with the AHPPC decision, and cruise lines are adjusting their communication to guests and trade partners.

The cruise industry’s top priority will continue to be the health and safety of guests, crew and the communities we visit. Cruise lines will continue to abide by their own robust health and safety measures and hygiene standards, and the industry will work closely with health authorities into the future.
