Dowie Doole…
Founded by two local grape growers back in 1995, Drew Dowie & Norm Doole.
In 2019 their tasting pods which are 4 shipping containers placed in the middle of their vineyard have been beautifully decked out. This cellar door is really lovely and you feel like you are far away from civilisation. A great place to relax and enjoy one of the best rose’ in McLaren Vale.

I think this is the best time of year to visit Hugh Hamilton cellar door… it’s just so beautiful being amongst the vines whilst they’re changing colours. An experience in itself, let alone enjoying their great wines.
Hugh is 5th generation of one of the oldest wine families in South Australia. Along with John Reynell, Richard Hamilton had established one of the first commercial vineyards by 1840. Having vines sent to him from friends in South Africa; They were dipped in wax to preserve their life & freshness.
Hugh’s daughter, Mary (6th generation) is the first woman to now run the business.

Turn it on Adelaide with this beautiful autumn weather! ☀️ What a lovely start to the day at Olivers Taranga McLaren vale. 🍂 🍇 ☀️

Did you know that 6th generation, award winning winemaker, Corrina Wright, had to convince her family to give her some grapes to make their own family wines & brand.

Prior to her taking the lead, the family vineyard grew ultra premium grapes and sold 100% of them to other wineries.

Corrina has also been a big player in the wine industry with introducing lesser known Mediterranean grapes into the area that have done exceptionally well. Corrina, your certainly are one of the influencing stars of McLaren Vale. ⭐️ 🍷👏🤗

We were so lucky to have the beautiful & hilarious Val Sieber host us for a tasting on her 75th birthday!!!!
Richard and Val Sieber are the third generation to run Redlands, the family property, which was traditionally a cropping/grazing farm.
They diversified into viticulture with shiraz (14ha) occupying the lion's share, the remainder split between viognier, grenache and mourvedre.
A gorgeous cellar door with beautiful gardens & a great place to mingle with real locals 💕🍷

Samson Tall Winery
Named after an important but otherwise forgotten historical figure for the McLaren Vale region. By 1853 Samson owned three farms in the area & chose to donate 2 acres of his land to the community for a church to be built.

Today, winemaker Paul Wilson & his partner Heather Budich own this property & have converted the little church (built in 1854) into a beautiful cellar door which opened in December 2018. Next to the church they have a winery in the shed, where they produce their small but stunning range of Samson Tall wines.

Samson Tall himself is buried in the humble little Bethany cemetery on the property.

Certainly a small family run cellar door worth visiting if you feel like trying something new & lesser known.

Finally got to pop into Lazy Ballerina…!
For many years I have driven past this cellar door 1000s of times & now finally I’ve managed to check it out.

Lazy Ballerina is actually a term used in viticulture for the trellis that wine grapevines are grown on.

This food & wine business sits amongst 5acres of beautiful gardens. The owners are passionate about their biodiversity project in reclaiming & revegetating land & their spring fed waterhole & reconnecting the land back to its traditional custodians.

Known as Dingabledinga, an Indigenous word meaning ‘water everywhere’, was used in summer as a meeting place for food, water & the trading of fishing spears & medicines etc.
There are still some old trees here with signs of scars for use of waypoint marking & for tools.
Some of the old trees were also used as campsites, where branches were constructed around the tree to make a home for the season.

Definitely a beautiful place to pop into if you’re passing by, enjoy a wine tasting or stop to have lunch. You may enjoy it so much that you might want to stay overnight in their little eco friendly BnB called Acorn Nook.

The beautiful grounds of Cobb’s Hill Estate were once used as pastures for the horses that pulled the famous Cobb & Co stagecoaches through the Adelaide Hills around 1854 - 1867.

Cobb & Co expanded across Australia opening up the outback & other areas for travellers, gold miners & the delivery of mail in the pre rail era.

Today the Estate has over 250acres with Black Angus cattle, Baby Doll Southdown sheep & over 70 acres of vineyards; Producing elegant cool climate wines in the adelaide Hills wine region.

“It’s like travelling Business Class!”
A comment made by one of my passengers today. Not only can you tour in style with me but my van is also an Accredited Chauffeur Vehicle.
Today I had the privilege to cater for a very special wedding day & only last week I had the honour to drive the lovely Vickie Chapman to Kangaroo Island!
Enjoy large comfy recliner chairs with ottomans, access to your own temperature control, side table and usb ports throughout, travel in premium cabin class & of course needless to say, it includes the exceptional personalised service from moi! 😉
Next time you need to get to A from B… come see me!
