UPDATE Tuesday 5/12/23

See new pinned post for good news :)

_____________________________________________________________________

UPDATED 12.00pm Monday 4/12/23

Council has advised that Stoney Creek causeway remains on the list of road closures. They have added that "No other roads are expected to open today, closures to remain in place until crews inspect again in the morning."

This means that:

the afternoon Route S548 Eden-Towamba -Wyndham will operate as a partial service from Wyndham on.

Tomorrow Morning's (Tuesday 5/12/23) Route S548 Eden-Wyndham-Towamba will operate as a partial service for transhipment services at Wyndham into schools at Bega and the coast as well as students from Big Jack Mountain Rd to Wyndham PS.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience and fingers crossed all will be well after inspection tomorrow.

Operations for Monday 4/12/23:

Unfortunately, Stoney Creek is still officially closed on Live Traffic and we have been advised closure signs are still up. (Thanks to Steph for the pic).

Partial service will operate this morning, for transhipment services at Wyndham into schools at Bega and the coast as well as students from Big Jack Mountain Rd to Wyndham PS.

Hopefully the causeway will be inspected tomorrow and approved for afternoon operations. We will update as soon as we get notification.

Towamba CAB- newsletter and Timetable - Snail Mail drops also coming soon.

Hello Everyone,

As I always do as we approach 1st July, it’s time to clock over another year of operation and remind all of you that this service has been running for 18 years and we are now moving into the 19th year of the CAB. A grand achievement by our community.

If you have moved into the Towamba Valley, you may not know that the Towamba Community Access Bus Service is for our community, provided by your local school bus operators Ken Connell and Di Samuels of Eden Buses Pty Ltd.

Services alternate each Wednesday, tripping to Merimbula one week and Bega the next.

Great to enjoy a relaxing drive into town with the chance to socialise and catch up with other passengers. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get out and meet other members of the community. If you need a bit of extra service while in town to get up a steep hill to the Doctors for example, just ask your friendly and helpful driver.

Fares are subsidised, making it an economical alternative transport solution, bearing in mind that the ongoing continuation of this service is reliant on patronage.

Hoping you are all keeping safe and well and see you soon.
Bye for now Ken and Di

2. Image of the Towamba CAB Newsletter with blurb as above and also some COVID-19 safety reminders not to travel if feeling unwell. Masks are no longer required but you can still choose to wear if you like.

If you need a more accessible copy, for example if you are unable to read the timetable image, please call Ken on 0428 967 158

Welcome back to the 2023 school year. Just a reminder that motorists must ‘Slow down to 40 when bus lights flash’.

Also, some key messages for parents and carers:

•Families have an important part to play in keeping children safe around roads.

•Never drop off or meet your child on the opposite side of the road to the bus stop or call them across the road. Always drop them off or meet them on the same side of the road as the bus stop.

•Remind your children to always wait until the bus has gone before choosing a safe place to cross the road

•Talk to your children about Stop! Look! Listen! Think! every time they cross the road:

-Stop one step back from the kerb

-Look continuously both ways

-Listen for the sounds of approaching traffic

-Think whether it is safe to cross and keep checking until safely across.

School is back for 2023, and school bus services have resumed. Please help us keep kids safe and SLOW DOWN to 40 Kph when lights flash on the back of a bus.

It's Bus Safety Week from Monday, 21 February to Sunday, 27 February, 2022, to raise awareness for all road users on how to stay safe on and around buses, helping to reduce injuries and fatalities.

Take the time to watch this video and stay safe.

When bus lights flash it means the bus is picking up or dropping off children so you must slow down to 40km/h

Look out for children on footpaths or crossing the road, especially around schools, buses and bus stops.

Motorists may not expect to see, or find it difficult to see, a child crossing the road at an informal bus stop.

Leave plenty of space when you’re driving or stopped around buses, to keep children safe and improve bus drivers’ vision of the road environment.

Buses are heavy vehicles and can’t stop quickly. Maintain a safe stopping distance between your vehicle and a bus in front. A 3-second gap is best.

28/01/2022

Looking forward to seeing all our students next week.

Let’s all keep each other COVID Safe by remembering that face masks are required for persons over 12 years of age and recommended for younger students if they can tolerate it.

Schools are requesting students to wear surgical rather than cloth masks. You will see our drivers will all be wearing P2 masks.

Please do not use the bus if you are experiencing any symptoms of being unwell with COVID like symptoms.

Given the increased community transmission of COVID-19 over the summer break, we have made contingency plans to do our best to ensure continuity of service.

However, we will communicate via our pinned post at the top of our page if there are any service disruptions should drivers need to isolate.
