My good friend Peter Crowley has a talk and launch on his new book. I attended the one in Melbourne, and it was a fantastic talk, not to be missed. The book itself is brilliant as well.

Are you interested in reading about the explorations and findings of our group? If yes we will have Rudi Paoletti manning a stand with all our trip books available at this book sale as well as all his other books and maps.

As well there will be many Australian and Local History authors present to talk about their books and have them available for purchase. Authors such as Luke Steenhuis and Mike McCarthy. History and military books from collections will also be available for purchase.

The Court House, in Franklin Street, is on the Victorian Heritage Register, and is now managed by a community committee. It was recently beautifully restored.

The Gold in the Ranges publication is about the mining and history of the Wood's Point to Jamieson Region. The Lloyd Family has kindly given me permission to reprint this excellent publication by the late Brian Lloyd. Hard cover A4 size.

This book about gold and people is a story of hard work, great rewards for some and dogged persistence by many. In 140 years, the mines from Jamieson to Woods Point produced 43 tonnes of gold, worth about $760 million in the values of 2002. The first 3 years on Morning Star Hill produced over $100,000,000 worth of gold in the dollars of 2002. Special features of the book are stories of the har­monious mix of families from many places. They showed great ability in organising their mines, local government and transport, courts, schools, and churches, mail, telegraph and supplies. It is a story of devastating bush fires and of communities determined to survive.

So many great stories and finds, including the forgotten township of Shamrock, Deep Creek mines, remnants of the 2 mile long wooden flume that survived the many fires since 1867. The stories of threats to kill, fights, arson, shots fired in anger, etc. We even found the long forgotten site of the Landy's Cricket Ground off Binns Road.

There is just too much info to list here and without a doubt one of best books I have written so far with the help of so many people, and without their help it would never happen.
