Here we go Paul bike No #12 and a serial pest ie a very annoying man god bless his sole but seriously a top bloke. Broke his scaphoid bone in his left wrist on day two in the sand but was not going to let it get in the way of his Cape York ride. He rode with this injury through the pain barrier all the way back to Cairns. Once in Cairns, he checked himself into the Cairns Base hospital and was diagnosed with a broken scaphoid bone which will require surgery on his return home to Sydney. Paulie you are a very touch man and a champion.

Big Boss NSW Outback Tour
Ok as you all you all know this Covid-19 has been a real bummer for tourism business in general and trying to put a tour together with most of the border closed is very difficult as things are changing on a daily basis as where you can and cannot go depending on what part of Australia you are from has bearing but we managed to put together a tour for the riders that wanted to go for a ride and could travel in NSW. The tour was called the Big Boss NSW Outback Tour, it kicked off from Broken Hill where the guys flew in and their motorcycles were waiting for them at the airport. Things were against us from the get go as the flight was delayed due to bad weather in Broken Hill and furthermore there had been heavy rain in the Outback 3 days before on the tracks that we were intending to take with road closers, a saying “it is what it is” had to be adopted, chin up and let’s get on with it! Ok so the tours general route was to shoot up north to Cameron’s Corner from Broken Hill then head east along the top of NSW, tying any Outback town which had a pub in it, the tour would eventually finish up in Manila NSW on a cattle property of Big Boss. Anyway the high lights of the tour was as follows:
1. Silverton Mad Max museum, defiantly worth a look in.
2. Long and vast outback roads
3. Starving lone solo motorcyclist on big adventure bike (we had to sort him out with a real lunch)
4. Cameron’s Corner but as the QLD border was closed we couldn’t pop on for a beer across the road at the Cameron’s Corner general store:(
5. Bush camping and awesome feeds:)
6. Lunch time Hamburger on the side of the track
7. Awesome feed at Wanaaring
8. Ford Crossing for smoko
9. Lightning Ridge hot springs
10. Bellata golf club another awesome feed and great hospitality ( we tried to book into the pub but could find it as it had burnt down a couple of years ago lol)
Anyway the tour was easy riding not quite the Simpson Desert but we the made the most of it and discovered a few hidden gems. Would I do it again, well the answer would be yes and it is perfect for a riders wanting to do a level entry dirt bike and feel the vastness of the outback that city riding cannot give you……..

The Outback Pub Run was a tour starting in Cunnamulla and joining the dots to a few remote outback pubs along the way which took us into the Simpson Desert and finally finishing up in Birdsville. It was defiantly an interesting run with plenty to see and what made it even more interesting was all the vast flood waters heading towards Lake Eyre basin on the last two days.

These two pictures of the old Ghan railway building known as sliding and of course the most famous ruins in the area Dalhousie are just some of the historical remains in the Simpson Desert. When you visit these places it like going back in time wondering what life was like back then.
