Visit Riverina NSW Explore the natural beauty of the Riverina, where the people are friendly and you’re never far from a delicious meal.

Located in southern NSW, the Riverina is the food bowl of Australia. Visitors enjoy the vibrant and ever-changing colour palette of the landscape defined by the region's seasonal produce. From the excitement of our larger cities, such as Wagga Wagga and Griffith, to the quaint country charm of our many historical towns and villages, the Riverina has something unique to discover around every corner

. Earthy delights

Licorice and chocolate, olive oil and wine, food lovers can tantalize their tastebuds in the Riverina. Producing rice, nuts, oilseeds, citrus, wine grapes, prunes, dairy, livestock, cereal crops, you'll sense the Riverina landscape change with every season. Fresh local produce is an important part of the region and provides for a very satisfying visitor experience! Nature at its best

The majestic Murrumbidgee River runs through the heart of the Riverina, from the hills of Gundagai to the Hay plains, while the Edward River flows peacefully through Deniliquin and the Lachlan River winds its way through Booligal and Hillston. The Riverina is an ideal holiday destination in NSW for those seeking fishing and watersports experiences, or who just wish to relax and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature. History comes alive in the Riverina

Heritage tourism experiences are abundant, from bushrangers and gold, to Indigenous, pastoral and industrial history that is exciting to learn about and explore. Many of our towns and villages still feature original buildings and streetscapes, adding to their charm. The Riverina offers so many day trip destinations. Why not take a weekend, week or longer and explore the region's food and produce trails!

Slow down and take in the regional way of life as you travel on the Sturt Highway, the Mid-Western, or Kidman Way. When in the Carrathool Shire, see the heritage-listed Bascule Lift Span bridge, completed in 1922, last opened for river traffic in the 1930’s. An iconic legacy to the early pioneers of the region, the Hydro Hotel offers a comfortable stay in a grand, Art Deco-period building located in the heart of Leeton. Sit by one of the open fires. Indulge in the on-site bar and restaurant featuring the murals of local artist Lee Blacker-Noble. An absolute must-see destination when you visit this beautiful town.

Visit Leeton Country Change

There is heritage and history galore in all parts of the Murray and Riverina regions.

The Hydro Hotel is a great example of this. Completed in 1919 as an accommodation house for senior and administrative personnel in the development of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, the hotel was expanded and licensed in 1924 when prohibition in the MIA was repealed.

The Hydro Hotel remains a wonderful legacy to the vision of these early pioneers of the area. A true Leeton landmark, this iconic building has survived the test of time and is part of the rich history of the region.
