BREAKING NEWS:
We have absolutely fantastic news to share! Our tenure at the airport was on the Council agenda yesterday (again) .... we had the opportunity to present to Council and when the time came to consider the motion, Mitch Nadin put up an alternative ... for MAM to stay in our current hangar AND be provided with a 20 year lease. We are over the moon to confirm that 7 of the 9 elected Councillors voted in favour ... so it's official ... MERIMBULA AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE IS STAYING WHERE WE ARE WITH A 20 YEAR LEASE! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
We are so, so grateful for all the encouragement & support we've received as we've battled this issue over the past 5 years. From the messages of support, signing our petition, writing letters, making submissions and presenting to Council.... it's ALL made a difference and helped us get to this fantastic outcome. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being there for us and with us!
Special thanks to Mitchell Nadin & David Porter for your advocacy and for fulfilling your election promise to bring this issue back to the new Council. And thank you to the other Councillors who supported the motion - Helen O'Neill, Peggy Noble, Simon Daly - Labor Councillor - Bega Valley Shire Council, Peter Haggar and Claire Mudaliar ... your decision yesterday is so appreciated - not only by us, but all who have an interest in General Aviation in Merimbula. At last ... common sense prevails!

Hi all - anyone that had the chance to fly in today will know it was just magnificent. Sky was beautiful, winds calm......and as usual the team at were doing an amazing job delivering an awesome dining experience. If you haven't already......you need to check it out.

Yesterday was very special for us - the ten year anniversary of flying our first commercial passengers. We've done tens of thousands since. Been so brilliant being able to share our little secret 🥰

But we're not so special - it's the amazing coastline we live on that is........we joke that all we do is get you to a thousand feet and tell you to look outside😁

And you should also check out who get you a lot higher than that in the sky, and then help you fall through it!

Well some drama yesterday!

On our first flight around Montague pilot Gordon spied this distressed humpback totally entangled in fishing nets. Fortunately we were able to call it in, and a team from NPWS was on the scene within the hour. I don’t know how they do it, but apparently they’ve managed to cut the poor thing free, and it’s back frollicking in the deep 👏👏👏

Spitfire Mk IX MJ892 floatplane seen during its take-off run.

The design of the Spitfire Mk VB floatplane was similar to the earlier converted Spitfire Mk I, but it also had a parachute fitted to help recover from a spin. The big change on this prototype was instead of fitting floats from another aircraft Arthur Shirvall designed custom floats, 25ft by 7in, for the aircraft. It had been Arthur who had designed the floats for Supermarine’s Schneider Trophy entries.
