These two adventurous young men have decided, that instead of going to Schoolies, they would prefer to challenge themselves by trekking to Everest Base Camp to celebrate their high school graduation.

As school finishes up after our programmed dates, we have arranged a personalised trip for both Flynn and Joshua.

I have met up with the boys and their parents and was immediately impressed by their dedication and determination to do something a little different.

Flynn and Joshua are excited about their trek and are happy to welcome fellow adventurers who share their passion for exploration and challenge. If you or anyone you know is interested in joining this extraordinary journey into the Himalayas, please reach out to join the team.

This year, we were proud to guide the incredible Prasad family from Canberra, consisting of 5 members including their son Niraj at just 14 years of age.

Nirajโ€™s Mum Ash made the decision to join us, and he was along for the ride, not really knowing what to expect.

By the third day, he was hooked and in complete awe of this majestic landscape and excited for each new day. He showed strength and determination all the way up until we reached the EBC.

To be honest, you could not wipe the smile from his face and he successfully completed the trek, along with his family, like a seasoned veteran.

Age is no barrier and it comes down to the individual trekkers preparation, health, maturity and mindset.

We have received a number of requests and are now ready to head back to Africa.

To climb Kilimanjaro, you don't need any previous climbing experience. You will, however, need to be fit and have a positive mindset. We have been climbing in high altitude environments, predominantly in the Himalayas, for the past 15 years, including summits of 8000m+ peaks and have a thorough, comprehensive knowledge of how the body adapts and performs in a high-altitude environment.

We educate you before and during the climb, monitor your health daily and take care of you every step of the way, allowing you to relax and truly appreciate this beautiful climbing experience.

Everest One has been leading trips on Kilimanjaro for almost a decade, and have helped 100s of climbers reach the summit, boasting industry high success rates.

We offer the Lemosho route (9 days) which allows climbers more time to acclimatize, less crowds, stunning views and dramatic landscape transformation, as we traverse the mountain from the west.

The climbs will be managed by our Head Guide Allan Cohrs, who has personally led 14 successful expeditions of Kilimanjaro along with his expert team of local Tanzanian guides.

This trip is a fantastic starting point for anyone who wants a challenging trek or experience their first taste of altitude.

The combination of great trekking and amazing wildlife safaris make Mount Kilimanjaro and Tanzania an unforgettable destination.

Our 2024 Spring climbing and trekking season in Nepal is coming to an end with the last EBC/Lobuche East group leaving Kathmandu bound for home.

Conor, along with his proud parents Jodi and John have also left, still celebrating his enormous feat of reaching the summit of Mt Everest. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

We've had everyone reach EBC and Michael, Ben and Simon, together with Dawa Sherpa, Chepal Sherpa and Gyalzen Sherpa, summited Lobuche East at 6:30am on the 17th of May. ๐Ÿ’ช

The past two months have been simply outstanding.

We've had climbers and trekkers embrace the challenges of a difficult and often unforgiving environment taking in the beauty of the Himalayas, gain new-found strength and bring home countless memorable experiences and significant achievements.

This season on Everest has been particularly brutal with temperatures regularly dropping below -20 degrees up high.

Yesterday, as we strolled through the lower reaches of the Khumbu Icefall, we were greeted by the most awesome welcoming party, made up of our May trekking group along with Phunuru, Chepal, Kanchi and Mingma Sherpas.

Conorโ€™s proud parents, Jodi and John were also there, via video link as we all celebrated together, complete with champagne and beer.

I am so proud of Conor, who showed incredible determination, guts, respect and such a powerful positivity to climb to the top of the world.

In doing so, Conor became the 2nd youngest Australian and the youngest Western Australian to summit Mt Everest.

Although there is considerable pressure on myself to plan the climb as safely and carefully as possible, I can say it was personally one of my greatest highlights to see this incredible young man achieve his dream.

I may have even shed a few tears. ๐Ÿ˜œ

Meticulously studying the long range weather forecasting, identifying the optimal day to aim for the summit, monitoring the progress of the rope fixing team, completing our rotations with sufficient time to rest and staying focused and relaxed was crucial to this success.

Our strategy positioned us strongly and also gave us a clear path to become part of the first climbers this season to reach the summit.

We selected the last day of a suitable weather window, anticipating fewer climbers but more importantly climbing just before the jet-stream winds crept in from northern India.

It was the right decision, with teams who chose the following day forced to retreat from around 8000m and above due to dangerously high winds.

Dawa Sherpa, who reached the summit for the 12th time and had climbed with Conor on his previous summit of Manaslu (8163m) together formed the perfect team.

Now, as we slowly prepare to leave for the busy atmosphere of Kathmandu, I know Conor will be missed up here. He has become such a popular figure with the Base Camp staff and fellow climbers and along the way has made many life-long friends.

For me, I am going to miss the mountains and it may take us all a few days to re-adjust to city life.

It has been an incredible season, with not only our success on Everest but also sharing this incredibly diverse and majestic landscape with 28 adventurous trekkers/climbers who had the unique opportunity to spend time up here and experience a taste of expeditionary life.

Today, we have 5 climbers bound for Lobuche East to cap off another superb season. They are a strong team, led by Dawa Sherpa and Chepal Sherpa and I cannot wait to share in their experiences once they have finished their climb.

On behalf of myself, our expert team of Sherpas and all the trekkers and climbers who took on their own personal challenge, we thank you for all the messages of support and following us along every stage of this wonderful journey.

Yesterday at about 3pm we welcome Conor, Dawa Sherpa and Allan back to EBC, while Pasang Sherpa was catching up.

We organized our amazing EBC trekkers/Lobuche East climbers group to be at the lower part of Khumbu Icefall to give them a warm welcome - thank you everyone!

We're all super excited and relieved that they're back safely. It was a perfect day!

We're getting the photos and videos together and cannot wait to share them with you.

Thank you for following our Mt Everest Expedition. We look forward to the next one!

Meanwhile, our second Lobuche East climb is starting today and we'll keep you updated.

They're now making a steady descent to Camp2 and they should be back at the EBC tomorrow.

We don't have the details and photos yet as the radio reception has not been so good, but once they're back, we'll post some updates.

We cannot say how happy we are to hear the news. What a triumph!!

We received update via radio last night that our Everest Expedition team is heading up to Camp 4 (7950m) at 9am this morning, also known as South Col, and the entrance to the death zone. Allan's keeping a close attention to the weather and the climbers' condition at all times.

Everyone is well, they rested well at Camp 3 last night, and ready to give all they have to stand on the top of the world!

Our EBC trekkers and Lobuche East climbers are on their way to Lobuche, having successfully done the acclimatisation climb to Nangkhartshang peak (5083m) in Dingboche yesterday.

Everyone is happy and excited - just one more sleep until they arrive at EBC and stay there for 2 nights!

If everything goes well according to plan with Everest Expedition team, both groups may get a chance to spend a day together at EBC.

Our second EBC & Lobuche East group is making their way from Pangboche to Dingboche today. Everyone is well and enjoying the scenery along the way.

They'll stay for 2 days in Dingboche, in the comfort of warm tea house, good food and coffee. The second day is for acclimatisation walk to Nangkartshang Peak (5083m). They'll get an even much breathtaking view from the top!

Slowly but sure - or as Nepali says, "Bistari bistari" - they'll arrive at EBC, where they'll stay for 2 nights and explore the lower part of the magnificent Khumbu Icefall.

At 2am today, Conor, Dawa Sherpa, Pasang Sherpa and myself leave Everest Base Camp, heading off through the unpredictable environment of the Khumbu Icefall, navigating our way as we ascend through the twisting maize of ice and snow.

We are aiming to reach Camp 1 (6100m) for a hot drink, then continue through the Western Cwm and arrive in Camp 2 (6400m) before lunch tomorrow, where we will spend the night.

All going to plan, this initial part of the climb will hopefully take less than 10 hours.

We are taking things one day at a time and I will provide radio updates down to Base Camp as the team progresses slowly up the mountain.

We expect to be up on Everest for the next 5 days and will continually assess the conditions day by day.

We have a solid plan, supported by our long range weather forecast and together with Dawa Sherpa, we will carefully manage the summit push.

Conor is nervously excited but also has an incredible self-belief and confidence in his strength and ability, having previously been above 8000m.

Wish the team well as they inch their way to the roof of the world.

The May team for EBC and Lobuche East are well underway and expecting to reach the village of Phortse later this afternoon.

I have been struggling to get any reasonable connection here in EBC to post as we have had a mix of cold, gloomy days with snow.

I was lucky enough to video link in with the guys during the team briefing in Kathmandu five days ago which was delivered by Phunuru Sherpa along with Chepal and Kanchi Sherpa.

I was immediately impressed with their fitness and overall interest as I gave a quick tour of what they can expect in less than a week from now, including prime position overlooking the Khumbu Icefall from their private camp.

The flights directly out of Kathmandu for Lukla were not looking good with cloudy weather until Phunuru stepped in and put a clever plan in place.

Before long, the team were on the ground in Lukla, after experiencing a spectacular flight in two helicopters, affording them magical views across the vast Himalayan mountains.

The team trekked to Ghat for the first night, having been held up in Ktm and then made the relatively tough ascent to Namche, where they had 2 nights.

On the 2nd day which is used for acclimatisation, they all hiked up to the village of Khunde, at almost 4000m and had lunch with the family of our Head Climbing Sherpa Dawa, who is with us in EBC, in their gorgeous teahouse.

Today is a great walk, moving off the main trail and away from any crowds as they make their way to Phortse and hopefully see a few Musk Deer when they arrive.

It is a big day and I know they will be tired tonight but can at least relax in the wonderful comfort and hospitality of Little Sherpa lodge.

Chepal Sherpa and Kanchi Sherpa are doing a fantastic job guiding the team with the smiles on everyoneโ€™s faces a testament to their great work.

The remainder of the support team, including Mingma Sherpa and the Porters certainly make this experience possible.

Onwards and upwards guys and see you up here in Everest Base Camp.

A member of our April EBC trekking team asked me if I could find a remarkable location up on Everest to place some Buddhist prayer flags in memory of her late husband.

I have to say, it was a true privilege for Dawa Sherpa and myself to position the flags high on the mountain between an ice formation looking out across Everest, Lhotse and Nupste, with the prayers blowing forever in the Himalayas.

Such a beautiful tribute by Sue and her children in memory of a wonderful husband and Dad.

We spent 5 days up on the mountain, in some very challenging conditions.

The Khumbu Icefall was as beautiful as ever, with the usual creaks and groans keeping you on your toes. The route through the labyrinth of towering ice spires was longer than usual and there were many sections where you would be foolish to stop, other than for a few seconds to catch your breath.

The Western Cwm, or the โ€˜Valley of Silenceโ€™ which is an undulating, glacial basin with the flanks of Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse encapsulating you before it ends at the base of the Lhotse Face, always brings home the sheer scale of the task ahead.

At sea level, travelling through the Cwm would be a walk in the park, but above 6000m, combined with clear sunny skies, it can feel like you are in an oven and progress can be excruciatingly slow as you make your way to Camp 2 (6400m).

After resting for 2 nights in Camp 2, Dawa Sherpa led Conor up the steep, icy slope of the Lhotse Face, reaching Camp 3 (7300m) and presenting the most spectacular views out across the valley.

After retreating, we spent one more cold night in Camp 2, before crawling out of our tents in extremely tough conditions, with tempโ€™s dropping to around -20 and the wind howling.

We rugged up, put on a brave face, dug deep and pushed through the gusts to safely return to the comfort of our home away from home in Everest Base Camp.

Our team dynamics are brilliant, with Dawa Sherpa, who also guided Conor on his summit of Manaslu (8163m), working together in perfect, close cohesion. Pasang Sherpa is gradually transferring our equipment, including oxygen and supplies up the mountain whilst I am cruising in behind the guys, monitoring the conditions, timings, team health and planning our eventual summit push.

Now it is time to rest, sleep, eat and stay healthy as we monitor the weather, the progress of the incredible rope fixing team and prepare mentally for the epic climb to the top of the world.

Just a short update from our Everest team:

Everyone is doing well at Camp 2 (6400m). They reached there yesterday after navigating the gruelling Khumbu Icefall and stayed at Camp 1 for a night the day before.

Today is rest day, they'll head up to Camp 3 and plan to be back down at base camp on Wednesday, May 1st. From there, they'll take the rest they need before going back up for the summit push.

There's no reception up there but we're able to receive short updates through Garmin inReach and had these amazing photos from Phunuru when he's back at base camp today.

We'll post more updates soon!

Mt Everest update:

We have rested, trained, ate too much, drank litres of coffee, laughed and even had a beard trim.

We are now ready and eager to get going.

At 2.00am this morning, Conor, Dawa, Pasang and myself will leave Base Camp for our first rotation on Everest.

After navigating the Khumbu Icefall we plan to stay a night at Camp 1 (6100m), then head up the Western Cwm to Camp 2 (6400m), where we will spend 3 nights, with a climb up the Lhotse Face to Camp 3 (7300m).

This rotation in crucial for our acclimatisation and position the team for the eventual summit push when the ropes are set and the weather is favourable next month.

We will be out of range over the next 5 days, but will provide updates via satellite phone and plan to be back in Everest Base Camp on the 1st of May.

Wish the guys luck. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

100% success.

Everyone arrived safely in Everest Base Camp.

One of the true privileges is having the opportunity to spend two nights in our private camp as opposed to turning around at the flags.

The team spent the morning exploring the lower parts of the Khumbu Icefall and are now chilling out in the luxurious dome dining tent.

It has been a great adventure so far with such an amazing group of people.

Tomorrow the trekkers will start making their way down while the climbers will go up to Lobuche East high camp.

Time to leave Dingboche (4410m).

Yesterday the team took on Nangkartshang Peak (5083m), as part of our acclimatisation day.

The climb is an important part of our schedule to gain some additional altitude to prepare us for todayโ€™s trek to the village of Lobuche (4900m).

Some of the guys turned back above 4700m whilst 15 members of the group continued to the summit, with stunning views of Ama Dablam, Makalu and Lhotse.

It was such an amazing day which was topped off resting in the afternoon inside the warm cafe at our teahouse as it gently snowed outside.

The last 3 days have been tremendous with completely different and unique experiences to be had each day.

Wherever possible, we like to plan our daily treks into areas where fewer people visit and although not always possible, we take advantage of this whenever we can.

Our acclimatisation walk out of Namche was stunning, climbing above the monestary and visiting the Yak farm, before heading to Khunde (3840m), where we had an amazing feast at Dawa Sherpaโ€™s sisterโ€™s teahouse.

We were lucky to have the place and the trail to ourselves.

The following day, we separated from the other trekkers, heading up the less popular trail to the farming village of Phortse, which was superb, giving us stunning views down to the river (Dudh Kosi) and across to Tengboche Monastery and the surrounding peaks.

After lunch at Mong La, whilst being entertained by another group singing a medley of Russian ballads, we descended down to the Dudh Kosi before the final push up into Phortse (3820m).

We were so fortunate to see quite a few of the endangered Musk deer foraging in the forest or to our surprise, hiding out in trees.

Yesterday, after visiting the impressive facility of the Khumbu Climbing Centre, then having tea and biscuits at Phunuru and Kanchi Sherpaโ€™s home, we traversed the stunning, exposed ridge-line that winds its way, often above 4000m to the village of Pangboche (3930m), being the highest permanent settlement in the Khumbu region.

Once again, we were alone on the trail, apart from a few locals and a family of Yaks who were protecting their newborns.

This morning we headed up to the Pangboche Monestery, being the oldest in the Khumbu for an early morning Puja, where we were blessed by the local Buddhist Lama.

We are now making our way on a relatively short walk to Dingboche (4410m) where we will spend 2 nights which will include an acclimatisation walk above 5000m tomorrow.

Everyone is in great spirits and in complete awe of the journey so far, from the towering mountains, diverse landscape and the rich culture of the Himalayas.

The team were sensational yesterday, comfortably taking on the Namche hill and arriving in Namche Bazaar in around 4 hours.

The guys have put in the training back home and it definitely shows.

Myself and our Sherpa team are pretty impressed.

Great group to hang out with and share the beauty of the Himalayas.
