Kingfisher Bay Resort
We made it through the Great Sandy Strait. Kicking back at the Sunset Bar at Kingfisher Bay Resort. Just saw our first whales from the jetty. They were circling a yacht at anchor.
The Great Sandy Strait
Navigating the Great Sandy Strait is challenging. Sand bars everywhere. Sheraton flats is also very shallow. It gets the heart pumping 😃
Bribie Island to Double Island Point
What a sail. Lifted the anchor at 3:30 am. Arrived here at Double Island Point lagoon at 3:30 pm. Started off motoring as there was no wind but 2 hours after that it was sailing all the way until 2:30 pm when the wind began to die off. Gusts were something that needed monitoring and occasionally handled but all in all it was an exhilarating sail.
Holidays Commence
1st night at Bribie and they put on fireworks to wish us farewell
Tangalooma
We couldn't last any longer. Only back 2 weeks after being on the water for 4 months and we needed to get back out. Lovely day here at Tangalooma
Baie de la Tortue
Still trying to hide from the wind. Moved to Baie de la Tortue on the western side Ile Ouen. There's an abandoned resort, it's really a shame, it's a lovelly bay.
Cascades At Baie Uie
Sometimes photographs aren't enough
Dolphins At iLot Bailey
What a surprise to see dolphins swimming past our boat just after we finished lunch. Awesome.
Another stop on the tour of Ouvea was the "Turtle hole". There were turtles and fish to be seen. It's feed by the nearby ocean so the turtles can swim in and out at will.
Prior to sundowners, we needed to wear the kids out. Nothing like a game of catch with a frisbee and ball followed by a game of tag with a couple of camper children to do that.
Yesterday we departed Lifou headed for Ouvea. Arrived mid afternoon after a mixed passage to a beautiful sandy shore.
Garry's Anchorage (Great Sandy Strait)
In the middle of the Great Sandy Strait is this lovely little anchorage named after a local aborigine.
