Perth to Adelaide on a relocation special...
Darcy here is excited to join his brother and father across the famous Nullarbor Plain. His father's riding around Australia on a Harley and being able to join him and his brother for the leg across the Nullarbor will be a special experience. "It's not often these times come around" said Darcy.

A Special Offer Relocation bike saving the one way fee suited perfectly for his week long trip and is a great way to get a low cost one way journey. We have offers like this all over Australia and so if you can be flexible with your dates, route and bike choice drop us a line ([email protected]) and we'd be pleased to look at options for you.

The Kawasaki Vulcan 900 is smooth, reliable and easy to ride. It looks good too! So good in fact that my camera seems to have focused on the bike and not Darcy - apologies Darcy!

Thanks for the booking and I hope you make many lifelong memories on this special journey together.

Sydney to Cairns - 18 days with Mark and Jac (Final Part!)
On the final section of their journey north from Sydney, Mark and Jac leave Rainbow Beach and head to Broken River NP to see the famous platypus in the wild!

A short journey from there are the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. A sailing adventure awaited them on Camira which took them snorkelling on the reef and to the famous Whitehaven Beach.

Mission Beach was next on their list with it's long palm lined beaches and laid back tropical atmosphere. Watch out for the big frogs though!

The Waterfall Circuit is a little inland from Cairns and there are a bunch of fantastic falls there. Milla Milla is one of the most photographed and is a nice place for a dip on a hot day - it's cold though, even in Summer!

North of Cairns, Cape Tribulation awaits and some of the oldest rainforest on earth tumbles down to the coral reef lined beach with coconuts scattered around.

Port Douglas is a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. It's nearer to the reef than Cairns and so is an ideal place to take the boat to the reef to snorkel.

The road from Port Douglas back to Cairns is a fantastic one, winding along the coast with some huge lookouts. You and the bike are looking good Mark!

Once settled in to Cairns it was time to celebrate an unforgettable journey. Boutique Breweries are a big thing in Australia and Mark and Jac sampled many local brews on the way!

Not content with that though, they were soon flying off to Darwin to take the luxurious Ghan train to Adelaide, meeting their daughter on board.

What a trip! Once again a huge thank you to you both for sharing your hints, tips and wonderful photos on the way. Safe two-wheeled travels!

Sydney to Cairns - 18 days with Mark and Jac! (Part 2)
On this section of Mark and Jac's adventure heading north towards Cairns, the Waterfall Way was next on the agenda. Heading east from Armidale towards the coast there are many fantastic waterfalls (there's a clue in the name of this road!) all reached via winding country roads through pockets of lush, green rainforest.

The road plummets down the escarpment from the Rainforest Centre with switchback after switchback heading towards the NSW coast at Coffs Harbour. Great fun in the dry but a little hair raising when it's damp!

After breakfast at the famous 'Idle Inn' they headed via more minor back roads with banana plantations and rainforest to Grafton, Casino and Lismore with Ballina as their destination. More subdued (and far better value for money) then Byron Bay a hotel room overlooking the river allows you to watch the prawn fishing fleet returning home late afternoon.

Byron Bay is on the way to Brisbane for a night in the city before making their way north through the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland with stunning views of the Glass House Mountains from Mary Cairncross Reserve.

Rainbow Beach was the destination with its ferry to the largest sand island in the world - Fraser Island. A 4WD tour is a great way to experience the island. The guides really bring the place to life with fascinating information about both the human and natural history of the region. With a flight taking off and landing on the beach combined with shipwrecks, relaxing on pristine white beaches and lunch and refreshments thrown in it makes for a great day off the bike.

Part 3 will be later this week and thanks again to Mark and Jac for sharing your wonderful journey with us!

Sydney to Cairns - 18 days with Mark and Jac!
On their second tour of Australia, Mark and Jac rode this popular route perfect for late Autumn and early Spring when the weather 'up north' becomes dry, sunny and warm.

They were kind enough to send us photos and useful nuggets of information each day and, as it's a route often asked about, it's good of them to let us 'ride with them' on their journey during the next few posts.

Their journey begins with the lovely Blue Mountains with Wentworth Falls, the famous Three Sisters and Scenic World. To be truthful it rained on them in the Blue Mountains and so I've used some 'poetic license' with the Three Sisters picture there!

Bells Line of Road and Putty Road north to the Hunter Valley wine region is a fantastic ride well-known by Sydney locals for their Sunday outings. Scenic and twisty with the Grey Gum Cafe a classic bikers hang-out half way.

After a glass or two from the vineyards (and an overnight sleep!) it's another winding ride up the Great Dividing Range via Dungog bakery (a must stop) Bucketts Way and Thunderbolts Way to Armidale at the western end of the Waterfall Way. More on that in the next post.

Thanks Mark and Jac for sharing your wonderful journey with us!

Sydney to Perth Guided Tour - Part 3
The final post of wonderful memories shared with great new friends.

This section took us across the famous Nullarbor Plain to Esperance, Albany, the Margaret River wine region and into Perth for a final night's celebration.

There were so many more memories to add but I hope this takes you back for a few moments anyway.

Thanks again to everyone for making it such a memorable and enjoyable trip. We hope to catch up with all of you again someday very soon! ๐Ÿฆ˜๐Ÿจ๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Sydney to Perth Guided Tour '24 - Part 1
How do you choose the highlights from such an epic journey right across Australia? Covering 6,500km, 19 days and a huge range of environments there were incredible coastlines, mountains, outback gorges, the Nullarbor Plain, the southern forests and world renown wine regions. It was an experience never to be forgotten. 2 or 3 Facebook posts can't do justice - but we'll try! Here are a few reminders for those on the trip and we'll post some more tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone that shared their memories!

Great friendships made on Sydney to Perth Guided Tour

Iโ€™m sure Garry here wonโ€™t mind me mentioning that at 80 years old, and having just completed the Sydney to Perth Guided Tour with us, he ticked off a big bucket list item.

The group rallied together and on the last night presented Garry with a BikeRoundOz T-shirt signed by everyone. It was a touching moment and in just a few short seconds really brought home to me the reason itโ€™s so satisfying making these tours happen. The camaraderie and friendships made between like-minded people often last a lifetime with new countries explored and visits made, right across the world.

Garry framed the T-shirt as youโ€™ll see and at the end of the trip wrote on the group WhatsAppโ€ฆ โ€˜On my way back to Sydney. Thanks for some of the greatest memories of my life. Gazzaโ€™.

It was a huge pleasure to have you on tour Gazza. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us all. ๐Ÿ™

An oldie but a goodie!

Getting ready for your Aussie adventure? You may hear tales of fearsome snakes, sharks, and spiders. They're real, but chances of encounters are slim.

Our advice? March with purpose in the bush to deter snakes, and always wear boots. Check for spiders under any gear you've left outside. Follow signs about crocodiles and 'stingers', and steer clear of tropical waters in wet season.

However, the true Aussie threats aren't the ones with teeth and stingers. It's the fearsome Australian magpie! Territorial and bold, they're known to swoop during 'magpie season'. A helmet is your best defence!

We have a page dedicated to advice on taking on Aussie creatures great and small here! ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://bikeroundoz.com/advice-and-information/

Spot the bikes! There are no railings or fences on the famous and remote Nullarbor Plain across the south of Australia. Youโ€™d better keep your eye on the track as you canโ€™t see the ocean until the last minute and thatโ€™s a pretty hefty cliff to ride off! There are several incredible lookouts like this close to the border between Western Australia and South Australia.

Denise and Rob were both beaming at the end of their rental across the continent from Sydney to Perth. โ€œIt was the trip of a lifetime!โ€ said Rob after dropping the BMW and Yamaha XVS in Perth. Not content with motorised two wheels, they are off to New Zealand for a cycling holiday. Thanks to you both for your booking and have a great time in NZ!

Marc here is looking sharp in his BikeRoundOz T-shirt and neck buff after his Self-Guided Tour across from Perth to Melbourne.

He had his fair share of adventure on the way. There was a once in a lifetime flood on the Nullarbor Plain meaning he couldnโ€™t get through. There are no other sealed roads heading west to east for over 1,500km and so a detour of just 7,000km! Fortunately the road opened but it meant a ride of over 8 hours to catch up in temperatures that changed from 15dC to 43dC overnight.

Marc dug deep and made it to the next overnight stay โ€“ a great effort! That combined with the beautiful coastlines and vineyards of the south west, outback gorges and wildlife in the Flinders Ranges, the huge lookouts in the Grampians NP and the world famous Great Ocean Road made it a tour of contrasts and beauty and one Iโ€™m sure heโ€™ll remember for years to come.

Iโ€™m glad you had a great trip Marc and thanks for booking your tour with us!
