It all started on the 29th April, our beloved mum's last journey home to Palencia, Spain. 18 days, 2500kms of magnificent Spanish roads. Tight parking spots, great food and wine. Unforgettable family reunions and very emotional burial of our mum's Ashes. Her journey has come to and end and we will continue with return to visit or beautiful resting place. The car rental with Enterprise was very seamless and we loved our stays at the hotels and sightseeing we did. I will share those details and my self-drive experiences in another post. Great to re-visit Barcelona after such a long time. We had mixed weather as it usually rains in Spring and the locals welcomed the showers after such a long drought. It's time to head home and reflect on this emotional trip. Many of you are due to head off on your own travel adventures soon and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

To all our friends who live in Sydney, the news of the horrific massacre sends shivers up our spine. I hope your family and friends are safe and didn't find themselves in Bondi Junction this afternoon. Thankfully I can say our daughter is safe and was no where near there today. Mallorca was magnificent and we visited villages, beaches had some wonderful meals and made more family memories. The driving around the Island is not for the faint hearted but the roads are brilliant, that's why the cyclists love it so much. The island has brilliant public transport, the buses go to places I couldn't imagine, and I know because I had to drive behind them for many kms. I would however always recommend to have a rental car for the flexibility of accessing what this beautiful island has to offer. The capital of Palma is lovely and worth a visit and perhaps stay a night or two. The undercover food markets are fabulous and shopping and general vibe of the town is very traditional. It caters so well for visitors, and Palma airport was so much more than I expected. Its very large, exceptional facilities wonderful services for access needs for both visual and non visual disabilities. Australian airports could learn a from this very impressive island that knows how to cater for visitors but still maintain its unique Mallorcan/Spanish culture.

A comfortable 4hr 50min TGV from Lyon to Nice in first class with good leg room, wifi, and charging points. During busy times make sure you board the train early to ensure you secure baggage space near your seat. Honestly it's every man, woman, child for themselves.The upper deck seats can be a struggle to carry the bags up the steep steps. We've had 2 full days in this gorgeous city and wish we had more, but yes I will be back in 2025 on the Uniworld River Cruise and I can't wait. I had a quick look at the magnificent Grand Hotel Dieu which incorporates The Intercontinental Hotel. This is a destination on it's own with it's numerous restaurants and bars all open for the public to enjoy the historical building and the quiet sanctuary inside the walls. Here you will also find the Cite International of Gastronomie de Lyon. An interactive museum to indulge all 5 senses. Allow at least 2 hours a must during a visit to Lyon. DUBROVNIK 🇭🇷 To Game of Throne’s fans, this is also known as King’s Landing. There’s so much to say about this stunning city but I’ll try and keep it short… - The Dubrovnik pass gives you access to the museums, the city wall, fortress and even bus transport. One ticket to the city wall alone is the same price as the entire 24hr pass so don’t waste your money on one attraction when you can get nearly all for the same price which is around €30 - Peppino’s is the best spot in the Old Town for ice scream and cheaper for a single scoop compared to other places out there - Be aware there’s a lot of walking and a lot of steps to climb. The stone pathways that make up most of the city are also very slippery so be cautious when walking around - As a city, it is more expensive in general than other places in Croatia so worth looking at restaurants in the back streets. Overall, you can’t really go wrong and you’re most likely going to have a delicious meal wherever you go - Relax and have a couple of drinks at Bard. While it’s on the pricier side, the setting itself is worth it. This is also a spot where you can do cliff diving but personally, I found it more entertaining to just watching people take the leap - For a cheaper lunch, highly recommend Fo.Ra for focaccia toasted sandwiches with a stack of traditional Croatian fillings - The fortress is worth the steps to get views of the entire old town - Save the city walls walk for end of day not only for the sunset (it offers spectacular views) but it’s around a 2km walk with around 500 steps. Something you don’t want to do in the midday sun - As much as you can look at the breathtaking city for hours from above, I recommend exploring the side streets and hidden gems of the old town where there’s so much to uncover! - The main port is around a 10min bus ride from the Pile Gate, the main entrance of the Old Town. Uber is also incredibly easy to navigate in Dubrovnik - If you’re fitness
