It has been a great start to the season with the weather warming and fish taking dry flies. The drift boat fishing has been sensational! the small streams are in great conditions with recent rains. November and December are going to be on fire 🔥

******* Christmas Island fishing Report ********

The fishing this year was fantastic with many Bonefish being landed with some pushing the magical 10lb mark, I was lucky enough to be on a boat when the bonefishing was off the charts with around 80 bonefish being landed between 5 anglers, this was in the area of Ricks Flat and Pipeline. One of the Bonefishing highlights was when a changeover group straight off the plane decided to fish the first morning in front of the lodge with around 10 bones and many species landed including a Trigger Fish.

This makes for a good segway to those pesky triggers! Those who were crazy enough to target these tractors of the flats were rewarded with some amazing captures, the Peach Face Triggers were abundant this year with Titans in the mix as well, I would say the number of triggers on the flats has increased by around 20% which still doesn't make them any easier to catch!

The highlight for me was seeing the return of the mighty Giant Trevally on the flats, with no large GT's caught on the flats last year it was great to see some landed this season, a few buses were hooked and busted off on 80lb which were well off into their 500 yards of backing, these beasts are never easy to tame so well done on getting the eat.
