Can you believe there’s only one more month of Spring?! Grab a warm weekend to enjoy some quiet time before silly season really hits!

Bring your self and a book… a mate or two…. a kid or dog… your binoculars for some bird watching… your crocs for some reef walking…. your camera for some creating… There’s really so many ways (& reasons) to enjoy our home on a dune!

Ooooohhh we’ve down to just a 6 day ‘gap’ in the Summer School holidays around mid Dec - message if you’re keen to make the most of this chance to enjoy our beach at its most popular time of year! Normally 7 night minimum in the Dec/Jan break.

Also some dates at the start of December if your kids are some of those that finish a bit early!

Summer is so close!! 😍🌞🏝️

In case you’re feeling spontaneous we have a vacancy for the last weekend of the school holidays… Normally a 3 night min in the Sept/Oct break but a two night stay is possible this time because I’d love to see these sunny days be enjoyed!

The fabulous Grapes of Mirth is returning on Saturday Dec 7th to where it all began - McLaren Vale! Tickets for the lloyd.brothers day in the sunshine go on sale this week - so who is grabbing the Dune Hideaway weekend to enjoy it like a local?! Message now if you want it!

‘’Twas my turn to play Cleaner today because our beloved Liz is off checking out the wildflowers in WA - yes I know, how rude!

But what I learned was I still love our pretty new kitchen, I was jealous of our next guests staying with this sunshine, and it’s better to put your mum to work rather than have her be bored🤣

We’ve had an unfortunate cancellation for next week - if you’d like a last minute plan to get away and enjoy some Spring days down the coast let us know! Word on the beach is it’s going to be 25 degrees on the weekend! 🌞🏝️🎣🐶

Winter beauty in the nearby Washpool Wetland… Just a short walk south from our place and well worth seeing it when there’s lots of water around!

And return home after sunset to our cosy fire!

Restocking the gift card box at Dune Hideaway this week with some newbies taken at the end of the street in Aldinga Scrub (check out little Roo with the tongue !) plus some ol’ favourites from the coast nearby… all $3 so send a souvenir while you’re relaxing, or take a stash home with you for when you next need a blank card. Lots to choose from!

First words when they arrived were “It’s gorgeous!” and they’re now set for a weekend of relaxing with wine and chocolate and lots of chats in front of the fire… as well as some exploring in the region.

I feel the need to share one of my favourite Aldinga things, for either the start, or the end of your trip to Dune Hideaway… the incredible Banana Bread from Home Grain Bakery!

For $19 for a hefty loaf, you can cut it up and freeze it and feel like you’re back at their cafe every time you toast a piece.

It’s a buy that gives on and on 😁 And has become a tradition for every trip I do to the Aldinga hood. Along with their giant Ciabatta bread. Clearly size matters to me 🤣

Sure - I can be guilty of a fair-weather post☀️… but I’m also very into embracing the elements, getting out there in the parks and beaches, and dressing for the weather! Our dogs need it, we need it!

Lately that’s looked like what I call ‘Fisherman chic’ 🤣 which rightly or wrongly takes me from the beach to the Berg Herring Wines 🤣 The jacket also matches my red/blue heeler… handy. 👍🏼

A wise woman I know (who still runs the local kindy my kids went to) once said to me “There’s no such thing as bad weather.. just inappropriate clothing” - and I ‘usually’ agree, but on a day that it’s really just too ‘bad’ to hit the beach, we’ve got you covered at home with our cosy fire! 🔥

Beautiful day at the “Berg’s Backyard Sessions” at Berg Herring Wines!

Fire pits, marquee, great tunes from Pat H and the best toasted sandwiches from little Acre Foods!

Their next ones are the first and final weekends in August.. highly recommend! Great vibe and lots of friendly folk enjoying the views and beautiful gardens.

“Tight as a clenched jaw on an oyster” ….The new saying I learnt on this morning’s walk as I strolled alongside a ‘local’ and she chatted about her grandson 🤣 “You’re not a townie, are ya?” She asked after describing how she rarely gets a chat from a visitor, and I replied I’ve kind of got a foot in both camps. “And I pay local rates” I defended. 🤣 Given her first 68 years were spent in England I could have perhaps argued her definition of ‘local’ but I was still giggling at the Oyster reference 😁 Dog supremely happy once again - a perfect Autumn morning!

Just seconds after arrival we’ve spotted wildlife in the sand dune backyard…. 🥰🐾🥎🌿

When your son drops into Silver Sands only to find out our house is booked out for the weekend… 😂 Thanks Coastal Skydive for looking after our boy! And the mates who chipped in for the awesome present! 🎥 CG 🙂

Wishing I was getting my feet wet tonight! Hope you’ve all been coping with the hot one!
