Movidas Journeys specialises in travel to Latin America - from Mexico, across to Cuba, through Central America and South America. We also cross the waters to Galapagos Islands, Antarctica, Easter Island and Tahiti. Movidas in colloquial Spanish means ‘moves’ or ‘movements’ as in dance or sport. It can also mean ‘in vogue’ or ‘chic’ or ‘a good connection’ - as in ‘I know someone who can ge
t tickets to the sold out performance...’ It implies life and enjoyment, which is what we hope you will experience on one of our journeys - to vibrant cities, tropical jungles, wildlife havens or amazing landscapes. Please contact us if you need any information regarding tours and costs if you do not find what you are looking for on our website. We cover the continent from top to bottom with all the nooks and crannies in between and are looking forward to helping to move you to the destination of your dreams. Why Movidas? We have an extensive knowledge of Latin America and then some! It is our second home! We have also travelled beyond Latin America to the other destinations offered. We speak the language, having lived there. We tailor make journeys to fit your needs. Tours on the website are here for guidance - not set in stone. We handle special interests so tell us what you need. Our local contacts are the best and have worked with us for many years. They look after our clients as if they were family. Latin America is a fantastic destination, but not a simple one to navigate, as there is so much to see. It does not have a major rail network like Europe so train travel is not the usual means of travel, more of a feature. Distances are vast, considering that Brazil itself is bigger than Australia, so it is not a place one would travel all around by bus. Flights are necessary within the continent. Often travellers book a special airfare online not realising that they could have included some of the internal flights for just a little more, or used an airpass. It is not really a \'book online\' destination as one needs to know how to put things together in a way takes advantage of airfares and land/sea transportation to save on backtracking and costs in general. We are up to date with airfares, ship schedules, train schedules, market days, festivals and special events. So why waste hours of research when we can do it for you? We are available 24/7 for changes and assistance. We want to show you our world.

Thirty years ago, two trips to iconic destinations, Africa and the Antarctic, profoundly changed Satyajit Das’s life. Ecotourism – watching wildlife in nature – became his gravitational centre. 'Wild Quests' is a literal and metaphorical record of these travels.
Over time, during his encounters with remarkable wild animals in continents across the world, he came to question the underlying preoccupations and tensions in humans’ complex and troubled relationship with nature. What lies at the heart of our fascination with wild animals and our attempts to pursue an ‘experience’? During a time of ecological emergency and habitat destruction, what responsibility does the ecotourist have to the natural world?

In 2008, while visiting Buenos Aires, we watched Argentina win the Olympic Gold Medal for football (soccer) at a local bar. When they won we asked where would everyone go to celebrate. The Obelisk! So we walked down there to join the crowd and were surprised when there were only a few fans. I asked a local whey it was not jam packed with fans celebrating and he replied: " Its not the World Cup" , Well today it is and the streets around the Obelisk are packed! Congratulations to all our Argentine friends! Enjoy the celebration! 🥳⚽️🏆🇦🇷🥂🍻🧉🍾🥰
