What a privilege yesterday, to officiate at the funeral of 97 year old Len Packenas. Len joined HM Royal Marines at just 16. He fought in the jungles of Burma during WW2 before being shipped back to the UK to undergo training in preparation for D Day. Len landed at Normandy on 6th June 1944 and his words "I fought, walked and crawled all the way through France before reaching Germany". Len turned 21, 10 days after the horror that was the beach landing at Normandy. After being demobbed in 1945, Len continued to serve in the Royal Marines as a reservist until 1952, and he had the honour of marching at Queen Elizabeth's coronation.
Len went on to marry and have 6 children and at 45 years of age he brought his family to Australia in 1970 seeking a better life for all of them. Len fell in love with Australia and Bundaberg Rum - working hard as a truck driver, providing for the love of his life, Margaret and his family. Len was a larrakin, a prankster and a great story teller. He was also a humble man, who never wanted recognition or thanks for his war service, but he proudly wore his medals every Anzac Day.
Len's family did him proud yesterday with a cracker Eulogy, wonderful Tributes, Poppies, The Ode and The Last Post.
We sent him off with honour, respect and a lot of love.

Drove through paddocks, crossed creeks and drove up and up until we reached the destination for the wedding of Glen and Cassie. Wow! Nothing to be seen but Mt Warning and surrounds. The sun shone, the mist swirled and the rain came, but nothing could dampen the fun of this wedding. Family, friends and love - what more do you need? Glen and Cassie you have a wonderful future together. Enjoy! PS. Funniest groom vows ever!

And here they are! The stunning Sarina and the very handsome Tim. This was very much a family affair. Both sides boasted marriages of 30, 40 and 50+ years. What a wealth of support for this young couple. Lots of laughs and a few tears but plenty of love in the air 💕💕

Tabitha and James! Covid caused their 2020 wedding plans to be thrown out the window. Romantically, they secretly married with just myself and 2 witnesses. Yesterday, on the first anniversary of their marriage I was thrilled to officiate as they finally enjoyed their dream wedding - renewing their vows in front of all their family and friends in beautiful Mapleton.
Again - so very romantic! 💕 James and Tabs know what they want out of life and together they will achieve everything they put their minds too.
