With the first grapes planted in the 1860’s it’s Queenslands’ premium wine region with a few surprises up its sleeve. Beyond Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz and other well know varieties, their Strange Bird wines provide the opportunity for you to quench your desire for something new and exciting. One such variety is Saperavi, the oldest known grape to man and one of the very few grapes with red skin and deep red/purple flesh. Originating in the Georgia Region on the Russian border where archaeologists have found evidence of wine making dating back over 8,500 years.
