Santos Tour Down Under Arrived 4 days ago for team presentations and then off to Day 2 of the women’s tour with a beach roll, cafe stop, then onto the start at Unley, out to Willunga in the 🚐. A ride to Aldinga and then Ryder 🐶 and I set off up Willunga Hill with mates where James Raisin snapped the best shot 📸… follow on Insta

Tough day out with brutal climbs, technical tracks, mud, but very rewarding day to finish Noosa Enduro for 2024. Great company on course and amazing day catching up with mates. Thanks to all riders, organisers and volunteers. Awesome weather

Love a good catch up with my Zwift mates and good friends such as Katey L Bates, The Wheelhouse Cycling, Wes, Craig, Beardy McBeard and my local Bris cycling buddies Steve, Aimee, Ness, Vince, Kieron, some of the 99 Bikes crew, The FE Sports lads, Wahoo crew and everyone else I’ve forgotten, what a great night, thanks Zwift! Go team Blue, taking the win every time!!

And that’s a C2K Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride wrap! Jackie Dorey, Lynda Kendrick and I are home. Karumba to Charters Towers night 1, some night markets, exploring and dinner with my mate Katrina Briggs and HR. Day 2, awesome catch up with my mate Mick in Emerald for lunch, a quick explore seeing the Van Gogh painting and onto Rockhampton for our final night with Adrian and omg best 5 ⭐️ accom at his place with the best BBQ steaks 🥩. Last day - Jackie’s Birthday 🥳 and she even got a nice policeman to breath test her 😆. Our slogan on the trip home was “you can’t park there” so many wrecked and broken down cars. We had a great trip, dodged all the cows, emus, wallabies, Roos, birds etc and have so many memories, thanks for the support and following us, til 2025 and we do it again! Day 6 at Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride is Pack 1 race day for 155kms - we averaged 35.5km/hr today to BEAT the train!! It’s a tough day out with only a couple of quick stops, on dead roads and battling head winds, our group was amazing and all 10 riders emptied the tank to beat the train by approx 30mins. Our last big day and the pub was a welcoming site. Before back to base hall for the night, shower and onto dinner and Tiara and Bow tie celebration night. I read the Wally awards and Frank and Narelle were our favourite wallies and took home the jerseys. A couple drinks and back to 😴 before our last day of riding 🚴 to Karumba and hopefully see an amazing sunset 🌅

C2K Georgetown to Croydon as a Wally today (each night everyone votes for 2 recipients to receive awards for the next day for being a Wally, so last night I was in a hurry to go to the toilet as I needed to get something for the P&C and accidentally walked into the male toilet and was caught… ooops… the circumstances were funny!)
153km in total as Jerry and I did a ticky tour of Georgetown before leaving. Long day today but amazing lunch provided by P&C at Gilbert River and the walk to the river is always great. Before back in the bike for a hot afternoon. Riding into Croydon was welcoming!! And yea the cold ginger beer with C2K mates was welcomed!!
A great day out with Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride mates…. The pics and videos show the amazing adventures of day 5. Stayed turned for tomorrow when we race the train!

Day 4 - Georgetown Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride afternoon camp set up (for ride photos today see earlier post… and Drum Roll…. The Calcutta where they close off the streets, we had the local Schools attend and a student play the violin 🎻 and Mt Surprise showed their school song and video. Dirk almost won the Calcutta race where they close the streets for Pack 1 but had a tough handicap and Frank also flew the flag for us in the race. Then back to camp for an amazing dinner by the P&C and oh I got a Wally award but no jerseys the right size currently. we also actioned off the Pedal Bike that 99 Bikes gave to the charity which made money 💰 for the bush kids education and was also gifted for a young student to ride.

Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride day 4 - Mt Surprise to Georgetown, 92km at 32.8km/hr including New Castle Range and it was Superhero day!! So much fun 🤩
Amazing day with Pack 1, so many laughs and great catch ups with lunch on the top of the range and omg first pub open in 3 days!

What an amazing day 3 of Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride riding from Mt Garnet to Mt Surprise 118kms in Pack 1 averaging over 33km/hr with the highlight of having amazing kids from the outback joining us along the way for 4kms to ride into 40 Mile Scrub where the P&C had made us an amazing morning tea!! Mega thanks. Then onto Mt Surprise and again the local pub was closed so onto the Big 4 who opened their bar early for the thirsty riders and supporters. Some amazing dinner by our volunteers, some Wally awards and the No Talent Quest for a few laughs. Another great day.

Day 2 Cairns to Karumba Bike Ride saw 105km and approx 1200m climbing from Atherton to Mt Garnet. Hills, wind sometimes headwind 😞 and sometimes tailwind 😊. Amazing morning tea by Herberton State School P-10 P&C 🙌
We have to ride hard to burn off all the amazing 🤩 food. So onto the highest point in Qld a quick photo and on our way. Arrived at Mt Garnet for the daily beer 🍺 at the local pub, only to find it closed 😢 so onto camp! Lucky the P&C here opened the camp bar early. A great meal, Wally Awards read out by me then dessert and trivia! What a day and night. Thanks to all our riders, supporters and volunteers making it possible and supporting kids education programs in the outback. The students helping today were amazing. I even had the pleasure to test out the Pedal 24 inch kids bike, which is supporting the charity and going to a worthy recipient later in the week. Congrats also to Tracy Darveniza for her QOM 👸 win!
