His work is refreshingly free of the trappings of excessive digital manipulation. Andrew's simple philosophy is to let nature do the talking. Andrew was the owner of one of the longest running photo galleries in Australa - Nature's Image Photography - in Montville from 1993 to 2017. He recently closed the gallery to create more free time to develop photography workshops and tours. Andrew's Photogr

Andrew continues to develop a variety of more advanced tuition options, and in recent years has become host to a variety of tours in the Australian outback, as well as more exotic locations including Norfolk Island, New Zealand and Vanuatu.

There are so many memories that make up an African tour experience...like being unable to resist stopping to photograph one more Impala, even though you have seen thousands of them already.

Near Lake Masek, we encountered this elephant that had lost most of its trunk (possibly to a poacher's snare) but was still looking healthy and enjoying life having made it to the safety of Ngorongoro Concession.

For every lion photo I already shared, there are dozens more that are just as good, and each one represents a special memory, especially as I had my friends on board to enjoy the moment with me.

I have a day off, and not much to do with all this rain, so I'm looking back through my African tour photos from earlier this year. I have already shared enough photos to fill a book, but I could fill ten more books with all the photos you haven't seen yet. Like landscape shots that you can't resist shooting even though it's a wildlife tour.

Before I teach something I first have to learn how to do it myself. My new YouTube video sent me on a really interesting learning curve. If you're interested to see what the new Lumix Lab app can do, check out my new video:

Thanks to the Caboolture Photography Club for hosting me as your guest speaker on Tuesday night. I did a talk on some of the amazing emerging features of mirrorless cameras - including constant preview, subject detection AF, live view composite, high resolution modes and even touched on what some of the newest apps can do. My presentation was really well received...some people didn't know what their cameras were capable of, others did know but were yet to try them out. I also got to show off a few of my favourite photos from the past couple of years. Thanks again Caboolture PC, always a pleasure to come and see you.

The family had dinner a little late last night. I went in to town to get groceries in the late afternoon. I said I might be a little longer than usual if the storms looked interesting. Well the storms looked very interesting and although dinner was late, I got some great shots.

A friend at Ted's reminded me about the comet that is passing through our neighbourhood right now. Tonight I headed out to give it a go, and for a long time the clouds prevented me seeing much of anything. Just as I was about to give up, I spotted the tail of the comet in one of my photos. So I stayed on as the sky cleared, and managed to get some worthwhile images of this rare event.

TENTERFIELD 3 DAY 'MINI-TOUR' - APRIL/MAY 2025
Regular readers know that earlier this year I spent a few days in the Tenterfield region, plotting out ideas for a short tour next year. On the Tanzania tour, one of the most unexpected and exciting sightings was a pair of tiny Serval kittens. One of our keen-eyed travellers (Hi Nic!) spotted them in the long grass as they ran to the safety of their hiding spot. The top photo gives you an idea of what I could see. The heavily cropped second photo shows the power of the 100-400mm lens, combined with the amazing Lumix G9ii animal/eye autofocus, to capture an almost impossible shot.

THE SECRET IS OUT - KENYA IN 2025!
After four amazing Tanzania tours, next year we are seeking new horizons in Kenya. Along with my great friend Pierre of Guiding the Wild, we're taking on the Great Migration from the other side. Our tour includes world-renowned Masai Mara Reserve and Amboseli National Park. As always the focus will be on great wildlife photography, with high hopes of seeing plenty of species not found on our previous tours. The tour is up now on the website so check it out and send in your expression of interest - numbers are limited! https://naturesimage.com.au/events/experience-wild-kenya-with-andrew-goodall/

You go through your photos from the big adventure, and pick out the ones that jump out at you. Then you go through them again...and again...until you think you have found everything. Then you go through them one more time, and find yourself saying "WOW, HOW DID I MISS THAT??!!"

And here's my favourite newly-discovered photo of the day.
