As I in the quiet Osaka Airport and reflect on spending the last 14 days in this beautiful country, I note that there are many more visitors here than I have ever seen. I hope that Japan doesn’t become a victim of its own success with its ancient temples and shrines, its amazing food and super clean environment but the world is travelling again. Please don’t change.

It’s been a big start to Japan 2024 with a small group with a visit to Tokyo in the first 3 days, Hakone next then Takayama and Shirakawago. Lovely to get out of the city and into the countryside. Spending a lot of time in queues as it seems like this lovely country is on the world’s radar.

A testimonal from on her recent Pilgrimage to in India.
I just wanted to let you know what an amazing trip we are having. After a small hiccup (seatbelts) at the beginning, everything is flowing so beautifully now. Our hotels are great, our new driver is great and all the seatbelts are now working in the car! Thank-you so much for the wonderful trip you planned for us, it is really a trip of a lifetime. We are sharing all the merits with you and your wonderful staff. 🙏🙏🙏. Thanks Rani for your kind words and to and the team for organising it.

Is Japan on your bucket list? If it is then now is the time. Join me to experience the ancient highlights of this unique country set against the stunning colours of autumn.

As a small group, we’ll explore the magnificent cities of the Edo era, which remain steeped in timeless traditions. In Tokyo we’ll take in the districts known for their local artisans and cultural curiosities as we visit some of Japan’s most significant Buddhist and Shinto shrines. No visit to Japan is complete without a visit to Kyoto, a city where ancient culture has been preserved and combined alongside the ultra-modern. In Kyoto we’ll have the opportunity to take part in in a traditional tea ceremony.

We’ll also experience the natural landscape awash with the beautiful colours of autumn as we take in the highlights of Mount Fuji, Hakone, Takayama, Shirakawa-go, and Kanazawa. We’ll journey to significant Buddhist sites, including Nara with its famous Deer Park and Toda-ji Temple; and Mount Koya, a temple town nestled amongst the mountains, where we’ll stay in an shukubo (temple) and experience Shingon Buddhism firsthand.

We’ll finish the tour in Osaka, where we’ll explore ancient castles and bustling streets awash with street food and neon lights.

As with all our experiences, we select our accommodation and locations with an eye on combining comfort and culture into one unique experience. We’ll stay in traditional ryokans with onsens (hot baths) in Kanazawa and Takayama, and simple but delightful hotels in the other locations.
