A day at Twin Lakes - Bush Retreat & Fly Fishery proved very productive for Michael visiting from northern NSW. For someone who had never cast a fly before, 4 beautiful rainbow trout was a great initiation.

A couple of chunky little browns from Tasmania's Bronte Lagoon. These guys were fossicking in the margins, picking up mayflies as they popped. Happily took the artificial versions.

Love the way trout adapt their colours to their environment. This 55cm brown lives on the barren rocky edge of Tasmania's Great Lake.

So what do you do when you break your old faithful Sage SLT while fishing on a pretty Central Highland stream? You keep fishing, don't you! The 5 foot version still worked, although it proved a bit difficult to keep pressure on the fish!

The determination of some fish is unrivalled. This fine specimen decided that he wasn't going to be pushed aside by the bigger fish and pounced on the fly.

Little Pine Lagoon does (and did) offer up much bigger fish than this one, but he was still photo-worthy!

Herne Lodge in Tasmania's Central Highlands is offering up great dry fly fishing this season. Mayfly and spinner hatches along with damsel flies means there's fish raring to go!
