And that's a wrap! Our first 5-Stans Tour has been completed.

We crossed into Kazakhstan under cloudy skies but nothing could hold us back from exploring the beauty of Charyn Canyon (it's a mini-Grand Canyon without the helicopters!)

Then it was onto Almaty where we museum-ed, paid our respects to the fallen, visited the ice-skating field-of-dreams, discovered a Beatles tribute and feasted once more as we reflected on what had been an incredible journey through 5 countries, each with its own unique culture, landscapes and people.

A few seats remain for the September 2024 departure. 2025 dates coming soon.

It was Stan number 4 that surprised me the most. Maybe because it was the one I knew least about and to me it had always seemed so mysterious.

High mountain peaks, rolling green hills, herds of horses, sheep and cattle, yurts and fairytale canyons. Alpine lakes, an overnight under felt, learning about living mountain traditions and feasting with friends.

Kyrgyzstan will live with us until the end of time.

Hello Kyrgyzstan!

Bunnik Tours' first 5 Stans Tour is now officially 4 Stans in!

From Tashkent we flew to Bishkek where we explored the Kyrgic capital before heading to the hills! Soviet era buildings and monuments gave way to snow capped peaks, home cooked meals, historic trading routes, nomadic farming and the most incredible landscapes.

Oh Tajikistan!

From Samarkand we crossed the border into Tajikistan and headed straight to the 7 Lakes. Over the course of the following days we discovered Panjakent, crossed the mountains (twice), explored the capital Dushanbe, made the Tajikistan news, made lots of new friends, got to wear our wet weather gear, marveled at grand palace rooms, learned about Soviet Collective Farming, ate & smelled our way through bazaars and enjoyed a few riverside sundowners in the historic city of Khujand!

And then we reached Samarkand!

It's the jewel of the Silk Road and a city I've been yearning to visit for many years. And boy did it live up to expectations! Here everything is on a grand scale.

We walked, we discovered, we photographed, we were photographed, we learned, we drank, we ate, we shopped and we even celebrated the amount of empty seats on the bus!

Bunniks in Bukhara!

Bukhara was our second stop in Uzbekistan. With a history dating back over 2,000 years the Holy City of Bukhara is known as the Pearl of the Silk Road.

Our hotel was right in the heart of the old town and we arrived in the middle of the annual festival which sees locals from all around descend on Bukhara. We often became the tourist attraction with locals wanting to have their photos taken with us.

The very first Bunnik Tours 5 Stans tour is on the road! Our own Dennis Bunnik has joined the first tour and he's just sent these pictures through from Khiva in Uzbekistan. Khiva is the first stop after crossing the border from Turkmenistan and is the first of the Silk Road cities of the tour.

These photos were taken within the World Heritage-listed old town which is known as Ichan Kala and dates back to the 10th century.
