Send us a message if you still need a room for GoFish weekend. GoFish Nagambie
The words of the week seem to be Goulburn Weir, our main man Rhys Creed from Social Fishing is here to explain what Nagambie Lakes is really like
KEY LOCATION: Goulburn Weir 📍
If you've never visited Nagambie Lakes you may be surprised as to how much water there actually is. When you launch a boat, it might look small but as you try to navigate around the system you'll find that it just keeps going!
When it comes to competition time next month, making sure you launch in your go-to fishing area will be key, as travelling from one end to the other just isn't possible 🕛
One spot I want to mention is the Goulburn Weir! This is the most downstream end of the Nagambie Lakes system. It is a large bowl like area with a meandering river channel surrounded by shallow flats ranging from a couple of feet to 2m in depth. The river channel varies from 7-10 meters ↕️
The fish hold in both the depths of the river channel and along the flats, even in two feet of water. Casting surface across these flats is a great way to find active fish and plenty of big fish as well. But by far the river channel edge is most productive. Working the big standing stump right on the edge of the river will put you in for a good chance at numbers of cod, and also the monster trophy winning fish 🏆
Now stay tuned for next Friday's update and I'm going to share what I think will be the secret formula to winning the competition 👀
See you then!
