MARIANNE & JIM - SUBANTARCTIC ISLANDS Update 4
We arrived at Campbell Island, the adventure continues.
Part of the team (Naomi, Matt, Steph) are at the Tourism Ireland info night learning about some hidden gems and staying up to date with Ireland and its offerings for our travellers.
For example, the Irish national stud. Did you know it’s open to the public all year around? “Vintage Crop” hails from this stud. They foaled 277 babies this year. It’s not just for horse-mad travellers.
Shenanigans mis-guided walking tours. Find out if you’re a witch and make a beer disappear!
Golf links and whisky. Improve your golf game (or your bad language skills) by combining it with a bespoke whisky tour!
Give it another half hour and Matty-o will be up dancing and giving the girls from the Erin Dance Academy a run for their money.
Have you ever thought of slowing down your travels? Slow travel is all about taking your time to truly experience a destination. Instead of rushing through a checklist of sights, imagine spending extra days exploring local markets, meeting artisans, and savouring authentic meals.
We'd love to help you design a journey that lets you fully immerse yourself in the culture and charm of each place you visit. Get in touch and let's start planning your next adventure: https://tinyurl.com/525ah2y4

Naomi - ALGERIA UPDATE
One thing I deliberately opted for on this trip was flying via, and stopping over, in Doha as I had not yet flown with Qatar Airways nor experienced what a stopover in Doha is like.
I am pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be good, I feel like everything Qatar is touching is high quality and thoughtful.
The stopover was not ridiculously expensive and the experience flowed well and wasn’t unduly stressful (which is what I want for my travellers, not just me).
Sometimes signage is a little lacking, but the staff in Doha airport are ridiculously polite and helpful and speak pretty good English when you ask to be pointed in the right direction. Doha airport May take over from Changi as my favourite airport!it’s quiet, there’s a nice indoor garden with water feature, the hotel was airside so I didn’t have to clear customs, nor walk 3kms to get to the hotel.
Naomi - ALGERIA UPDATE
Timgad, located in Algeria, is an ancient Roman city that dates back to around 100 AD. It is renowned for its well-preserved ruins, which showcase the grandeur of Roman architecture and urban planning. The city was built in a grid pattern, featuring a forum, temples, basilicas, and an impressive theater. Timgad is often referred to as the "Pompeii of North Africa" due to its remarkable preservation. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, attracting historians, archaeologists, and tourists interested in ancient Roman history. The site reflects the cultural and architectural influence of the Roman Empire in North Africa.
