We've always gravitated towards snowboarding and never tried skiing. The good thing about Club Med was we could snowboard for 2 days and then try skiing to see if we liked it. Having never tried skiing before we did an included lesson which was great! I realised that i actually really enjoyed skiing and would love to try again next time we head to the snow. That was the really great thing about Club Med is you can switch up between the two and work out which best suits you. The lessons are tailored to your skill set and the classes are small so enough 1:1 time. There is also classes available for kids too, so the adults can get out and enjoy the slopes for the day too.

Kinkaku-ji or the Golden Pavilion is one of Kyoto's most treasured attractions. This means its a very busy place to visit. I recommend arriving early in the morning or towards the late afternoon to avoid huge crowds. Entrance to the temple is 500Y and open daily from 9-5 season depending. There is also free bike parking here if you choose to ride your bike out.
This three-tiered pavilion covered in gold leaf is one of the most famous and recognisable of all the historic structures in Kyoto. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site

New Chitose Airport Sapporo
Its very rare to find an airport that you could spend a day at, apart from Changi in Singapore. However we ended up with 3 hours in New Chitose Airport and I have to stay I could have quite easily spent a day here with no complaints.
The airport has its own market, Doraemon cafe, Hello Kitty flight experience, Pokemon Store,Royce's chocolate world, cinema, Onsen, whole level of beautiful restaurants, basement shopping centre with local foods and ice cream, Flight museum and food court with runway viewing platform. The only time I wouldn't have minded a flight delay! :P

We recently stayed at Club Med Kiroro Grand located on Hokkaido Japan. The resort was opened in December 2023 and had a very successful first season. The resort is located in Kiroro and only a ski lift from ski in ski out. The beauty about Club Med in Japan is all your lift passes and lessons are included, in addition to the regular great inclusions like all meals and drinks during your stay. The property is beautifully decorated has a lovely heated indoor pool and hot tub for nice evenings after a day on the slopes.

* Chureito Pagoda *
This place has been on my bucket list of places to visit for years! The stunning pagoda with Mt Fuji in the background couldn't be more beautiful. We took the gamble with the weather and made the 3 hour train trip from Tokyo. Make sure to arrive early as the crowds are just insane. We arrived at 8:30am and there were already lines forming around the grounds. For the iconic photo spot you make a line and a group of approx 30 are shuffled through to the main view point and you are given 5 minutes to take your pictures and then you're moved on. You can line up again or move to the next view point. Its a good way to keep people moving and not the same people taking up a spot for an hour! I would check the weather report before you head out here as the viewpoint is all weather dependent.

🇯🇵 🚘One of my favourite activities in Tokyo is go karting! Yes that's right - dress up in your favourite cartoon character costume and race around the streets of Tokyo! This time we did the Asakusa & Akiharbara Route.
Your tour lasts an hour and you will need to make sure you have an international drivers permit for this tour. However its such a unique and amazing experience, well worth it.

🇯🇵🏯🌸👘 Kyoto is the perfect place to ride a bike around the city. It's quite a flat city and very bike friendly. It also makes zipping around between attractions that much quicker yet still taking in all the lovely scenery!

We hired our electric bikes for the day and rode about 35kms all around Kyoto. Each bike was about $18aud for the day.

It's a great mode of transport and still a fun day exploring!

🇯🇵 🍱🍙 In Kyoto we took part in a private Sushi Making class with the sushi master herself. It was a 1 hour private class at her home and was just the most wonderful experience! 😊

We made flower sushi 🍣 and were given all the instructions and ingredients on how to make it at home!

You're taught all the steps and processes to make beautiful sushi!
Highly recommend taking part in a Traditional Japanese experience.

The ladies were just beautiful and we felt so welcomed into their home. She even gave us a tour of her house and tea room.

🇯🇵 🏯 This is Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple located at the foothills of the mountains near the Bamboo Forest in Kyoto.

Here you will find the most quirky and beautiful temple I'm yet to come across. The temple houses over 1200 hand carved statues based on the personality of the carver.

The temple costs approx $4 and to enter and it's open daily from 8:30am.
If you're not really into temples I'd still recommend this one as it's completely unique and not like any others.

🇯🇵🙌🚗 Whilst we were in Tokyo we did an evening tour out to the Daikoku parking area which is located in Yokohama.

Here you will find Tokyo's biggest car enthusiasts. Each evening hundreds of cars visit the parking area and take part in Tokyos most well known car meet.

If you're a fan of cars or just want to have a pretty unique experience then I'd recommend this evening out in Tokyo.
Love the real life Tokyo Drift!

You'll also stop at the largest car parts store in Tokyo for a look at absolutely everything cars! You'll also drive over the rainbow bridge and a quick stop at Tokyo Tower 🗼 on the way back.

🇯🇵👘🌸 Beautiful Geisha's in Japan.
The elusive Geisha's will only be found in the Gion district of Kyoto in the early evenings and can be very hard to come across but just beautiful to see if you are lucky enough.

If you do come across a Geisha please don't chase them! Yes there were people literally running down the street after them.

🇦🇺 Today is the day we stand up and thank our current and previous serving members of the Australian military!

A day to recognize the sacrifice these men and women make everyday! Constantly being away from their families, moving houses all the time, uprooting your lives at a moments notice, never being able to plan too far ahead, missing important milestones and moments. It's not an easy life so be thankful to those who choose these jobs to protect our freedoms.

They should be celebrated for the heroes they are not just today but everyday!
