Your 10-21 June Trekkers are SMASHING IT!! they’re already at tonight’s camp at the Irusrava Battlefield, the scene of one of the most heroics of the war. It was in this very location Private Bruce Kingsbury’s actions led him to receiving the Victoria Cross, for valour.

Now a funny story for the friends and loved ones who have people on this trek. When I spoke to the guide I asked for something which I could post to let you know how they were and how they were doing. Apparently one of the porters said, “they’re really good, nobody has cried!” This made me laugh and I hope it gives you a smile and let’s you know they’re having a good time.

Tomorrow they’ll remember the fallen with a service prior to making their way off the mountain and being a mere 3km to the finish at Kokoda. They’ll complete this final 3km on the ir final day, which will be Thursday morning. (We do this so it takes the pressure off tomorrow, lets them enjoy their final day without a deadline and means they have a full day to wait for the weather to clear for the plane to come and get them).

We’re getting a lot of “best group” vibes from our guides of late which tells us one thing, your 10-21 June Trekkers are doing really well and having an amazing time!!

They’re now well over half way and smashing along the trail. They’re current at Eora Creek and this was their “bath” for the night so you can see they’re doing it tough…

By all accounts they’re all fit, healthy and well and loving their Kokoda experience.

Tomorrow will be one of the days they remember above all others as it’s a pretty chilled day (by Kokoda standards) and they’ll arrive and stay at the Isurava Battlefield, one of the most historic destinations on the trail. They’re in for an emotional time at Isurava, it’s one of those places where the beauty of the location and horrors of the war in one location is such a contradiction.

I have no doubt they’ll tell you all about it.

For now know they’re all fit, healthy, happy and having the time of their lives.

Your 10-21 June Trekkers are safe and well at the village of Menari. They’re taking the chance noting they’re on a trek schedule which has an additional night to chill a little and take a breather.

When asked how they’re doing, their guide stated “Yeah man, they’re all super chilled and having fun” so I can only assume that all is well and your loved ones are exactly where they want to be and life is pretty peachy for them today.

Tomorrow they’ll ascend Brigade Hill then make their way to Efogi, which is the halfway point of the trail.

We hope you all have a great weekend, we know your loved ones on the trail will be!

Our 10- 21 June trekkers are safe and well at the village of Nauro. They’ve had a pretty solid day but they’re doing amazingly well and all in good spirits. They’re loving the adventure and will have the most spectacular day tomorrow. They’re about to be thrust into (what I believe) to be the most beautiful and spectacular section of the trail and they’ll be well amongst some of the most incredible stories of bravery from the war as well.

As always, at 100%, Adventure lives here!

Well it’s an amazing occurrence for us here at 100%, our 50th trek has commenced their crossing of Kokoda and are on their second night. They’re safe and well at the village of Iriobaiwa and they’ve had a decent amount of rain. According to their Guide, they’re amazing and they’re all doing incredibly well and having a brilliant time.

Please be aware there is very limited opportunity to obtain imagery from the trail as there is patchy service at best and no wifi, but this is a pic of your team starting their adventure yesterday.

While we’ll endeavour to give you daily updates to their progress, please be aware much of the imagery will be of previous treks but when possible, we’ll post images of your loved ones.

Please also be aware if you’re trying to book an adventure with us, we’re having some tech issues and we’ll be in touch with you as soon as we can to be able to assist. We apologise for any and all inconvenience this has caused, we’re working hard to rectify it.

We heard from Gilbert a few weeks back but he’s back!! He’s got another message of thanks to you all, so thank you for your support to our 100% Community, without 100% Kokoda and without your support these men are otherwise unemployed, so along with Gilbert, I want to thank you for your continued love and support.

When you book a Kokoda trek it’s likely you’re thinking about the experience you’ll have, but it’s far deeper than that!

When you come on a 100% Kokoda trek you support the people of the trail with wages, camp fees, the foods we buy from the villagers along the way and all other associated payments.

This is only half of our team, so you can start to see the impact you have when you trek with us. When you book with us you’re supporting these men and their families - you afford them the opportunity to house, feed and care for their wives and children. So while we love the experience we afford you, we love even more that your participation is supporting these men, men we call family, a family you’re welcomed into.

On behalf of our team of porters, thank you for choosing us to host your Kokoda Trek experience! Without your support these men are otherwise unemployed.

We know the boys are excited to meet you and introduce you into their culture, welcome you into their family and thrust you into our 100% community.

On behalf of the men of Kokoda, we thank you!

Your 13 - 23 May “Raise The Bar” trekkers are nearing this finish of their Kokoda adventure. Tonight they rest at the village of Kovello prior to completing the trail in the morning before they fly back to Port Moresby tomorrow. They’ll take just 30 mins to fly what’s taken them over a week to walk. We’re so immensely proud of them and what they’ve achieved! They have some stories to share of their brilliant journey!

Your 16-27 May trekkers are over the halfway point and rest tonight at the village of Naduri. Tonight is their fifth of nine nights on the trail and from here they’ll take the pressure off and have a slower than usual back half of the trek. This means they’re able to really enjoy their surroundings and embrace the history and the culture. Their guide told me today “best group ever!” So this tells me they’re having a sensational time and the adventure they’d hoped to have. We’re so thrilled for them all and know the best of their experiences yet to come!

Following on with the leadership team detailing what working for 100% means to them, this is Garrison who wanted to say what working for 100% meant to him and how he spends the wages he makes working for us.

Comically when we did a trial run he nailed it but when the camera went on he got so nervous and seemed to dump all thought… (we both laughed about it).

He wanted to thank everyone for coming to Kokoda, supporting him and his family and wanted to thank you all for helping him pay for foods, school and medical bills in addition to your support last year when his daughter passed away. He said he will work for us until he dies!

We love this guy!

Today is one of those very rare days when you have two groups on the trail at the same time and they both hit one of the major battle fields on the same night…

Tonight the 16-27 May Trek are at Brigade Hill which was the site of one of the largest battles on Kokoda. 62 men fell on this tiny patch of ground in some of the bloodiest fighting of the entire campaign. Today this little site is such a beautiful spot and an amazing place to reflect on the sacrifice of the men who fought and died here. We know we haven’t posted much on the group the last few days but we can tell you they’re having the most amazing time and their experience is about to get a whole lot better. They’re well into the trek and will pass the halfway point tomorrow. Noting they’re not quite half way into their trek, this means a lot of smaller days at the water holes, enjoying the sites, the history the food and the culture.

The 13 - 23 May Raise The Bar Trek are at the other major battle site, the Isurava Battle Field. This was the scene of five days of fighting in August 1942 where 76 men lost their lives in what was to be knows as “The battle that saved Australia”. These guys are having an amazing trek and they’ve really gotten around one another to love and support each other on the highs and lows of this journey. Tomorrow they’ll begin the walk off the mountain to just short of the finish at Kokoda.

Your Raise The Bar trekkers are doing amazingly well. They’re moving well, are in high spirits and will this morning pass the half way point of the trail at the village of Efogi.

Today they woke at Beigade Hill which was once the scene of significant fighting. They’ve laid their respects to the fallen and will have an easier day today. Tomorrow they’ll make their way over the highest point of the trails and then it “should” be smooth sailing to the end.

Be proud of them team, they’re really achieving their aim of supporting one another and promoting men’s mental health.

Much love to these fellas.

Your 16-27 May Trekkers were last night safe and well at Goodwater Camp. Today will be their first full day of trekking.

Tonight I dead set feel like a proud poppy…

Massive congratulations to Lana, James and the entire De Angelis clan on the birth of Mavis Poppy, who was born at 1012 today, 17 May 2024 - James tells me that Mum and Bub doing great.

Mavis is the first baby born into the 100% community and I have been dead set so excited all day! I feel like I am literally a proud grand parent, which clearly I’m not..

Congratulations to the De Angelis’, we wish you years of fun and enjoyment as your little girl grows to be another adventure seeker.

Much love from your 100% family.

Following up on our Chief Porter Gilbert yesterday, this is Obed.

Obed was with me in March 2017 when we completed our very first 100% Kokoda Trek. He’s gone from being a General Porter, all the way to being a Trek Master (the most junior to the most senior position of a trek).

Like Gilbert yesterday, Obed wanted to thank you for choosing 100% when you trek the Kokoda Trail, he wanted to tell you how he and his family spend the money he earns working for us and helping you!

We will have more videos of some of the men in the coming days as they thank you for choosing us and helping support them in a country with 90% unemployment and no welfare, your trekking Kokoda gives these men the ability to support their family and we’re so honoured to be able to support 80+ families with direct employment and over 100 with support across the trail as we pay accommodation costs, buy foods from their markets, visit their sites and use their labour. Without trekking and without 100%, these men wouldn’t have this ability, so thank you for choosing us and supporting the grandsons of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels.

We recently filmed our Chief Guide Gilbert as he set off on another Kokoda Trek. This is the first of a small series we filmed where some of our leaders thank you for trekking with us. They wanted to show their appreciation for your support when you choose 100% to facilitate your Kokoda adventure. When you trek with us, you’re helping people earn a wage they otherwise wouldn’t be able to, and the men wanted to share their thanks and tell you how they spend the money they earn from supporting you.

We hope you enjoy watching these and hearing about the impact you play in their lives.

100% is committed to the Koiari people of the Kokoda Trail and take great pride knowing we support hundreds of families along the trail, anyway, let’s hear from Gilbert!

As Gilbert says, at 100%, Adventure lives here!

YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS ONE!!

We noticed many of you who are choosing to look at our Frequently Asked Questions on YouTube are looking at the other videos with the exception of Travel Insurance and when to get it.. This is possibly the most important video in the catalogue as it will ensure your best chance of coverage if something happens and you need to make a claim.

While it’s a spoiler for the video, technically you should get your insurance before you book your trek with us, you wouldn’t insure a new car AFTER you drove it off the lot but many of you choose to leave your insurance until we harass you for it a few weeks before your trek.. so, give this one a watch, it may be the most important two mins of your day..

Your Raise the Bar team are safe and well at their first night location. They’ve had a big and quite an emotional filled day. They started with smiles in their faces and full of excitement for their journey ahead. We wish them well on their adventure and know they’ll love and support one another in their journey to promote men’s mental health.

You may have seen a while back we posted a link to the documentary they’re filming on mental health, I’ve attached it below as a teaser to what is to come, having seen the first draft of the first four episodes I have to tell you, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before and I know when released, it will be something you want to binge watch. It’s filled with raw footage from the trail, interviews with the participants on and off the trail and brings out the stories of the action from the track. I laughed, I cried and I wanted more and more and know you will also!

So good luck guys, have an amazing journey and remember, at 100%, adventure lives here!
