Coming in from a secret location, in Southern Africa, in the Kalahari, in one of Africa's best camps.......Nature continues to astound us!

This is a Sociable Weavers nest where thousands of Sociable Weaver birds nest together and help raise up to 4 broods a year. They are certainly master builders. The nest is full of chambers which keep the nest cool in summer and warm in winter, or on cold desert nights where the temperatures can drop significantly.

Love is in air in Africa! When a female lioness is on heat, the male will stay with her for days, keeping away from the rest of the pride. It is such a privilege to spend time with such magnificent wildlife. To see them interact pre and post mating with very interesting. The lioness certainly makes the male work hard for her affection with the male seeking some much needed shade afterwards!

This beautiful tortoise I came across at a waterhole at is roughly 50 years old. He walked right up to me as if he knew a human from the past. He would have some amazing life stories to tell about the things he has seen in the bush.

Nothing beats getting on the ground and doing a Walking Safari! Approaching wildlife on foot heightens your senses. Looking for tracks and soaking up the knowledge of guides as they interpret the landscape for you is a very memorable experience. I highly recommend it.

Some expert guiding and tracking by Dan and Life from Savanna Private Game Reserve lead to this beautiful big Lion. The pride had fed on a wildebeest the night before and had moved away into the long grass to do what lions do best after a feed. It was such a pleasure watching Dan and Life work together to follow tracks and signs back and forth through the tough terrain to find them sleeping in the long grass. Thanks guys for making an already incredible stay so much more enjoyable.

A game drive should be an immersive experience. Taking your time at waterhole to spot the smaller creatures is a fascinating experience. At this sighting we managed to see a small crocodile, a water monitor, a Terrapin, and a number of beautiful birds that keep the ecosystem in check. It is great to be back in Sensational Africa!! There is no better feeling than gathering for afternoon tea before heading out on a game drive. I am currently experiencing the beautiful and well located Idube Lodge which is situated on its own concession in the wildlife rich Sabi Sands Game Reserve. To say I am thrilled to be here is an understatement. Guest were visited by a leopard in camp this morning whom after a leisurely drink from the pool continued on about his way. Our game drive produced 4 of the Big 5 as well as incredible bird sightings.

African wildlife experiences would not be the same without this beautiful creature. One of our favourite sounds of Africa! Always adding to the excitement, the Spotted Hyena has such an important role in the ecosystem. Whilst an efficient hunter itself the Hyena cleans up much of the carcasses once other predators have had their fill. We are grateful that Southern Africa is now off the Red list, and we cannot wait to hear the call of Hyena again.

All of Africa's seasons are special in their own right. The start of the summer rains brings an abundance of life after a long dry season. The Green Season as it is known, officially begins in November in Southern Africa and it is a time of plenty for all. Plains game drop their young and migratory birds start to arrive to get in on the feast of insects brought about by the rains. A stark contrast to the dry season. It is also a more affordable time to travel to Africa and generally quieter which makes for a great experience.
