Day 127 - We have been fortunate enough to keep most of the original windows, but we needed some new doors to open up the old girl to those beautiful trees surrounding her. Back in July we went to see the amazing team at who have created some new doors with gorgeous traditional details that will be perfect for Nest. Not long now until they arrive on site!

50 shades of green 💚
It feels like we've looked at every green tile in Australia at this point, but we've been on a mission to find the perfect shade for the family bathroom. Mixing it with some white and a gorgeous terrazzo style floor.

The pergola was such a key feature of the original house that we fell in love with and is an integral part of the renovation. This inspo pic we found on has so many elements we’d love to translate into Nest.

Who knew that there was so much choice when it comes to trims?!?!?! Today was confirming all the skirtings, architraves, cornicing, picture rails, etc. for the cottage. Which profile do you think we went with?

Day 91 was last month, when we started revealing the internals of the cottage and figuring out what can be salvaged. The plasterboard was full of mould and the termites have been feasting on the beams but we are hoping the sturdy old brick fireplace and chimney will stand the test of time 🤞🏻

We had the pleasure of meeting the previous owners of Nest who helped us save her from redevelopment and trusted us to bring her back to life. It had been their family home for 30 years so I’m sure it was an emotional time for them to pass the batten on. We were overwhelmed when they gifted us this sketch of the cottage that a friend had drawn for them many years ago. We can’t wait to return it to its true home when the renovation is complete.

Studio McGee is one of our all time favourites. We are obsessed with their style, their use of texture and layering. Waiting for them to open McGee & Co in Australia but in the meantime we will take inspiration from this beautiful cosy lounge room.
