This is Boat Beach at Seal Rocks. A beautiful place to spend the day, with great snorkelling along the rocks and the island off shore. Don’t forget to check out the huge shells for sale by the local fishermen.

Our kids were obsessed with this movie when we first started visiting Blueys, and the soundtrack was played on repeat in the car. This song quickly became the anthem for this project and is still played on the many road trips up and back.

Old floor, new floor.
Our aim was always to keep what we can and recreate what we can’t. The team on site is doing an amazing job at finding materials that fit. A sand and a seal, and it’ll be as good as old 😆

This week we got the pleasure of visiting the crew at to select some bricks for our beloved outdoor area.

For over 70 years, and across 5 generation of Michael’s family, they have been hand-making bricks and pavers using traditional methods.

We were immediately drawn to these gorgeous recycled bricks, many of them being taken from the old kiln that has been in use since the 1970’s. We love the colour variation and imperfections that will add just the right character to our space.

Day 238 - it’s been a busy time at Nest HQ but we had to share the amazing day we had last week. The old caravan park in Blueys has closed down to make way for a shiny new one but they’ve been selling off heaps of beautiful palms, trees and plants. We managed to get our hands on a few goodies - the hero being a truly gorgeous Canary Island Date Palm 🌴😍.

The crew worked tirelessly in the rain to dig her out, truck her down the road and plant her in her new home. We cannot wait to see the garden come together with the rest of the landscaping.

A huge thanks to .moore.design , Simon, Chad, Jarryd and the rest of the team for all their hard work and efforts 👊🏻

Day 127 - We have been fortunate enough to keep most of the original windows, but we needed some new doors to open up the old girl to those beautiful trees surrounding her. Back in July we went to see the amazing team at who have created some new doors with gorgeous traditional details that will be perfect for Nest. Not long now until they arrive on site!

50 shades of green 💚
It feels like we've looked at every green tile in Australia at this point, but we've been on a mission to find the perfect shade for the family bathroom. Mixing it with some white and a gorgeous terrazzo style floor.

The pergola was such a key feature of the original house that we fell in love with and is an integral part of the renovation. This inspo pic we found on has so many elements we’d love to translate into Nest.

Who knew that there was so much choice when it comes to trims?!?!?! Today was confirming all the skirtings, architraves, cornicing, picture rails, etc. for the cottage. Which profile do you think we went with?
