Aircraft cabin space is some of the most expensive real estate on the planet. Airlines have struggled over the decades to make that limited and highly-regulated square footage pay off. The International Air Transport Association’s latest estimated average airline profit per passenger is merely $2.25 in 2023. But the premium segment of the aircraft cabin is growing, helping to balance the equation.
United Airlines joins several airlines worldwide that have profited from a trend towards lusher, more comfortable, business class, and premium economy cabins. Passengers are the ultimate winners in this trend, as aircraft cabin designers have set new standards for comfort.
“Demand for premium products remains high, with great success in the premium economy cabin, where revenue has outpaced capacity growth since its introduction in 2019. In total, revenue from premium products was up 20% year-over-year in the quarter, accounting for more than half of all passenger revenue,” United Airlines reported in its third quarter 2023 financial results.

As I close the book on an incredible journey of over six years with 1000 Mile Travel Group I'm filled with gratitude and all the warm and fuzzies.
These six years have been a blur of laughter, endless champagne, travels, and shared moments with some of the greatest individuals I've had the pleasure of knowing.
From lobby bars to infinity pools, gin tasting atop glaciers, Winelands, and islands we've celebrated milestones, supported each other through tough times, and created a bond thicker than blood.

This unforgettable journey took us through three different parts of Hwange National Park, where we experienced the breathtaking game viewing, elephants and lions everywhere, and diverse landscapes that Mother Nature has to offer.

Our adventure included a stay at the magnificent Camelthorn Lodge, a highlight of the trip. Here, we learned about the inspiring work of the Camelthorn Foundation in protecting rhinos within its purpose-built sanctuary.

The dedication of the anti-poaching unit, the Black Cobras, and the education initiatives driven by Imvelo in local communities showcased the profound impact of tourism on conservation and awareness.

One of the most memorable moments was our pump run to Jozibanini Camp with the founder, Butch. His passion for the bush and his mission to save the elephants (by installing and maintaining water pumps throughout the national park) were truly inspiring, making us all want to join his cause and make a difference. I had actually met Butch 11 years ago in Hwange on a different trip - will need to ensure our next meeting isn’t this long apart.

Lizard island though 🤯🤯 I don’t think I have ever in my life felt as instantly relaxed as I have here; like my laptop actually stayed closed for four days (and if you know me, you’ve likely received emails from Antarctica and the middle of the African bush from me)

Ask anyone in the travel industry, and every single one of us has a property/lodge/hotel that we dream of staying at. For me, this dream for years was to stay at Southern Ocean Lodge, Kangaroo Island by Baillie Lodges .

Sadly, it was devastated, along with a majority of Kangaroo Island, during the 2020 bushfires and thus my dreams were put on hold.

After 3 years of closure, rebuilding, pouring love into the soil and structure, in December 2023 it reopened to share its magic with the world, and this last weekend Brendan and I were able to experience that magic.

Just wow, I literally clapped when our transfer reached the entrance gates, and then immediately started shedding tears when I walked into the main area and was taken aback by the striking view.

For those asking and curious, this place is 100% family and child friendly. They provide wildlife books with check lists for what you see, heaps of areas for games and colouring; and there is an incredible pool, as well as all of the activities include golf carts and buggies so endless fun for kids and those of us who refuse to grow up. There are about 4 children here at the moment (of the 20 guests that is the limit), they’re aged roughly 5-9 and we’re loving watching them ask questions, discover, and play around the property. I’d probably suggest kids that are an age ready to go on walks and comfortable with their footing as some paths and walks are on uneven ground, but otherwise an amazing place for families.
